Politics

Have any of you been following the Spencer Pratt for Governor of LA campaign?

He has no campaign consultants, is completely grass roots, and his campaign ads are single handedly the most persuasive and highest quality of any ever produced for any political campaign.

I wanted to post them here (there are dozens) but Google/Youtube suppresses them mightily to keep Karen Bass in power.

Found the best one:

The lego one is fantastic:

Fresh Prince:

I dont know that Pratt has the skills or the experience to be an effective Mayor in a city the size of Los Angeles...

But... I cant believe he could possibly be any worse than Bass... she is an absolute train wreck of a human being and even worse as a politician..

I think, here in the USA, they have finally started selling non-refrigerated milk. I always wondered why we don't have it here as I see it on grocery store shelves all over the World.
At the food bank we work at once a month they usually have some of the non-refrigerated milk on hand so we hand it out after all of the refrigerated stuff is gone unless someone actually asks for it.

He had a great Joe Rogan interview about 2-3 weeks ago. He has his facts straight about the corruption and incompetence of LA. If he's a D-student in his first foray into politics he'll be the finest LA mayor in our lifetimes. The bar is exceedingly low.

LOL, none of us think we’re peppers, but we are all far more prepared than the average bear. My guess is that the world considers us preppers, and we consider ourselves rationally prepared for likely scenarios.

Plus PLENTY of ammo!!

Isn’t there a joke about that and a large stockpile of ammunition?

“Gun Collecting
You may have heard on the news about a Southern California man who was put under 72-hour psychiatric observation when it was found he owned 100 guns and allegedly had (by rough estimate) 100,000 rounds of ammunition stored in his home. The house also featured a secret escape tunnel.
By Southern California standards someone owning 100,000 rounds would be called "mentally unstable."
Just imagine if he lived elsewhere:
In Arizona , he'd be called "an avid gun collector."
In Arkansas , he'd be called "a novice gun collector."
In Utah , he'd be called "moderately well prepared," but they'd probably reserve judgment until they made sure that he had a corresponding quantity of stored food.”
In Kansas, he'd be "A guy down the road you would want to have for a friend."
In Montana , he'd be called "The neighborhood 'Go-To' guy.”
In Alabama , he'd be called "a likely gubernatorial candidate."
In Georgia , he'd be called "an eligible bachelor."
In North Carolina, Virginia, Mississippi, and South Carolina he would be called "a deer hunting buddy."
And in Texas he's just "Bubba, who's a little short on ammo..." quoted from SaS wire author Del rio Pete

The only remaining thing we need to completely de-risk us for the worst case scenario we plan for is we need a whole-house Generac. We're going to purchase one in the next 1-2 years and that will put a wrap on it.

I havent done this yet... but only because I know the house I am in today is not the house Im going to be in for a whole lot longer.. we'll be here 5 years more at most.. I'd really like to transition to our final home (retirement) in the next 2-3 years if we can find the right place, make the right deal, etc)...

Once we are in our forever home one of my very first orders of business is a whole house multi fuel generac that is hardwired into the home itself..

between my 4 generators Ive got 18,500w of power at my disposal.. but if I truly want to run my whole house its a huge PIA.. there are numerous extension cords involved.. constant refueling of 4 different devices eating away at the fuel supply.. LOTS of noise with all of those motors running at once.. etc..

I'd love to have the option of merely flipping a couple of switches on the breaker box and walking away..

I think that was the concern. Though just those engines alone are in the millions, you'd think they would have solved that problem. Power outages were not as much of an issue though when these were installed a couple of decades ago, so they probably did not think it was worth the effort and cost.

It is tricky, I.e. expensive, to automatically sync those big units in and out. I’ll bet it is exactly what you suggest. My guess is that they have to let the grid get back up and stable, bring those units up, and then they have sync switching capability to bring them back in.

Well, I think people said the same about Trump and most of his cabinet including Hegseth.

The Generacs have automatic load switching. Their biggest reasonably priced consumer model is 24k or 26k, that's enough for a 5000+ square foot home with all circuits piped in.

The thing I like about the Generac (and similar) is it forces you to get an excessively large propane tank that you *should* have anyway to do deal with acts of god that might ruin all your perishable foods. Total cost for the biggest Generac installed is roughly $14k. The first time a storm takes your power down for 5 days, you'll probably save $5k in groceries that would otherwise perish.

I agree, its not the right investment for someone that will move in 3-5 years, you'll get nothing for the Generac in the sale of your home. It's definitely something to install in your forever home for your pleasure, not the next buyer's.

I'd better keep a low profile. :ROFLMAO:

Do some homework before buying generac. There are other alternatives that may be more reliable and less expensive. Generac has a very effective marketing team.

Somehow you and ‘low profile’ are not lining up in my head…
Might be too late anyway, as I might be infamous.

Care to enlighten us on alternative units and recommendations. Shopping for one in the very near future.

It's common up here in Alaska, and was the only milk I had when I taught for 6 years in a small remote village.

Since when are either an actual requirement to be Mayor of LA? Asking for a friend...

With regard to generators, we have an Onan 9500 with 150 gallons of propane. It is wired into our fuse box (actually breaker box) so when power goes out, I flip the master switch (so we don't feed power back into the grid, which would overwhelm the generator) fire it up and w have sufficient power provided we don't run the water heater and furnace at the same time. Several months ago we had a severe storm which knocked out power to the entire valley for a couple days. There was no moon and outside it was DARK. Virtually nothing could be seen without a light source. There was our home- lit up like nothing was wrong. Nothing in the freezers was thawing and no water lines freezing.

BUT THEN, after power was restored we received abuse from the religious zealots that our "non-sharing" behavior was selfish and "unChristian". I considered pointing out that Noah kept the ark's door shut rather than open it and have the ark sunk- but I opted to hit the ignore button.

You might have edited your post on the PH in the Bubye. I know the PH and is a wonderful person and a fmaily man and runs a succesful business in Zim and just doesn't want the attention that the internet offers, the ugly kind.

Hello,

Am I reading your post correctly to say that the Tsavo rifle will be coming out with a composite stock later this year? I ask because I had been looking very hard for a Tsavo, but if there is going to be a composite stock model I will wait for that.

Thank you for your time,

Andrew

Saw your post. Nice. Denver too. Genesee area (just off 70) if ever up this way. Alternatively, do you have a membership at GGC? Whatever, you'll have a wonderful time in Africa. Enjoy.
