I always try to avoid the dic$ measuring contests between you and @Brent in Az, but you might want to work the comparative populations into that statistic.

Asked that friendly Grok assistant the comparative per capita value of trade between US and Canada with China.

The per capita trade with China differs significantly between the US and Canada. In 2025, the per capita trade value for the US was approximately \(\$1,209\) per person, while Canada's per capita trade with China was roughly \(\$2,230\)

What was that about sluts?
I love stats.

Per Capita trade value is not really relevant is it? That includes trade going both ways, and doesn't deal with the concern about trade deficits which, I think, most people agree is the problem. I don't think either Canada or the U.S. is complaining about the stuff we sell to China. Canada currently has a slightly larger trade deficit with China, somewhat because Trump tariffs have made U.S. goods less attractive in Canada and we are replacing them with Chinese products.

Also from Grok:

US per capita trade deficit with China (2025 data):$590

  • Goods trade deficit: $202.1 billion (U.S. imports from China $308.4B minus exports $106.3B).
  • U.S. population (2025/early 2026): ~342–349 million. Using ~343 million gives roughly $589 per person.

Canada per capita trade deficit with China (2025 data):$550–650 CAD (rough estimate)
  • Bilateral merchandise trade reached ~C$124 billion in 2025.
  • Canada ran a persistent goods trade deficit with China (imports significantly higher than exports, though it narrowed somewhat due to stronger Canadian exports).
  • Exact full-year deficit figure is not directly in the top results, but monthly patterns and H1 2025 data (~C$17.8B deficit in first half) suggest a full-year deficit in the C$25–35 billion range.
  • Canada population (early 2026): ~41.0–41.5 million.

Any comment on the different in debt issue?

Paxton has released his first ad here in Texas for the general election. You know they were salivating to get this on air.

Oh Lord! Update - and already a second.

And yet despite that....

I was talking to a colleague today. He is from Texas. We have hunted together, in some remote places, so we've had time to have some long conversations about life. I don't know if he is a Republican or not, but he is very conservative on a lot of issues. He is a quiet, intelligent, circumspect fellow. When I asked about Paxton/Cornyn/Talarico, he was disappointed (he would have voted Cornyn) and said he'd vote Talarico if he was there simply because he finds Paxton that repugnant.

I wonder if there will be a lot of voting Texans like him.

Where’s does president BoneSpurs rank on the toughness scale? And WWF appearances don’t count.
To be fair, the US hasn’t had a military veteran as president since George W. Bush and we haven’t had a combat veteran since George H. W. Bush.

Joe Biden got five student draft deferments. I think the bone spur thing gets bandied about a lot, as if there hasn’t been a dearth of quality veteran candidates on either side of the political spectrum lately. Tim Waltz ended up being a fraud.

I will give Buttigieg credit in this regard. He served and hasn’t overstated his experience. I respect that.

Trump also warned Oman not to interfere. “Oman will behave just like everybody else or we’ll have to blow ‘em up,” the president said.

I thought Oman was one of the good ones? Now he is threatening them?

To be fair we’re pissing into the wind as Canadians about the bone spurs argument the last time we had a veteran as pm was about the same time period as the tet offensive

This is completely true. However the fact that our political leaders generally suck, does not obviate the fact that many American political leaders also suck.

As an outsider, Talarico looks to be a Beto without the personality of a Beto and a whole lot more weird woke stuff that he has said to somehow put behind him.

Here's a good one from the MSJ spin doctorsView attachment 766842
I would agree with the analysis about Iran's goals. How is it a spin?

What I know of "the deal" is in exchange for opening the Strait of Hormuz we would ease sanctions and lift the embargo of Iranian ports with talks about the nuclear stockpile to be discussed further down the line.

That is actually an improvement on Iran before we started bombing them as Hormuz was clear and we had sanctions.

It’s well know that inner city decline and urban decay is a symptom of workaholism. ;)

Too much work ethic is probably also the reason that Walmart locks up their makeup and has closed stores in certain areas too. :D
They are also taking out the self checking registers in some areas, due to theft

I think your friend is an outlier..

The issue Paxton faces wont be otherwise R voters shifting and pulling the lever for "Low-T"... the overwhelming majority that would have preferred Cornyn will hold their nose and vote Paxton..

The issue is going to be motivating centrist and independent voters to go to the polls at all... If R's dont show up in good numbers, the D's have a shot...

My biggest worry is the mid terms in Texas look "easy"... Crockett is gone.. Al Green is gone.. so I dont see a whole lot of people getting super motivated to hit the polls...

Its going to take a whole lot more of those "Low-T" type ads hitting the internet, radio, TV, billboards, etc to wake up the R's and make them aware of just what is at stake... otherwise Karen will take Telerico to the finish line and Texans will wake up on the morning of Nov 4th and wonder what the hell just happened...

All this fight about Canada vs USA is pointless. USA has one thing Canada doesn't have and will never have. Mild winters for the most of the USA.

and better BBQ...

dont forget the BBQ!

:D :D :D

You might have edited your post on the PH in the Bubye. I know the PH and is a wonderful person and a fmaily man and runs a succesful business in Zim and just doesn't want the attention that the internet offers, the ugly kind.

Hello,

Am I reading your post correctly to say that the Tsavo rifle will be coming out with a composite stock later this year? I ask because I had been looking very hard for a Tsavo, but if there is going to be a composite stock model I will wait for that.

Thank you for your time,

Andrew

Saw your post. Nice. Denver too. Genesee area (just off 70) if ever up this way. Alternatively, do you have a membership at GGC? Whatever, you'll have a wonderful time in Africa. Enjoy.
