Anti-gun/2A former lieutenant governor of Virginia who, during his last campaign, said he wanted strict gun control for the sake of his wife and family, shot dead his wife then turned the gun on himself in front of his two teenage daughters.

For the hourly / labor type employees the same is true in the DFW area.. most of the housekeepers, kitchen staff, etc.. come from staffing agencies.. the hotels cant find enough legals to hire onto their own staff.. and the staffing agencies are taking the obvious risks bringing on people without legal status to work..

The hotels know the people the staffing agencies are hiring arent likely legals.. but the liability is removed because the staffing agencies assure them that everyone is indeed "legal", etc..
Ya know Illegals are a weird anomaly , most of the grass cutters and restaurant workers [hotel] are here to make a better life, and for the most part would make decent neighbors I know Ive gone to church with a few, but somehow Illegal means well ,illegal, however the barn door was advertised wide open and left that way for far too long and prisons and mental wards were emptied and bussing to the border was provided, creating a totally unmanageable problem, I have no problem with those folks who want to work hard and abide by our laws and Christian culture but my red carpet isn't for the thieves ,robbers ,rapist ,con artist and drunk drivers that are inundating this country, be they citizen by birth or illegally abiding on bidens welfare train at my tax dollars expense. Hard to fix a leaking dam that has flood waters pouring in. But AT least hes tryin.

Not to beleaguer, but I can honestly say that in my 65 years on this planet, I have not once, until today, given any thought as to whether the American Revolution fell in or out of Christian Biblical guidelines.

And now that I have, I never shall again.

I'm sure I'll get shit for this, but you can dispose of wind turbine blades by incinerating them too. They are primarily fiberglass, resin, polyester, and CF. And no, I dont mean opening burning. They can be used as a feedstock for cement kilns instead of fossil fuels too. Although the ash would need to be put in a MSW landfill or Coal ash landfill versus a C&D, so that would be more expensive, but much lower quantities.
Now theres a solution ,drag those 80 foot long orangutang things down the highway again with pilot cars , and do what? youre kidding/?

I feel so sorry for his wife and daughters. If he'd only have actually practiced what he preached.

I guess me and the government of Texas and a long list of academic institutions are all out of touch with reality.

Sure glad I have people like you and Trump to bring me back.
You don’t learn. A few other members here have listed how a lot of immigrant crime doesn’t reach your beloved statistics. Yes, plenty of academic institutions are completely out of touch with reality. That’s incredibly apparent to most people. It’s been that way for decades. It was readily apparent to me during my time in college and that of my kids.

I honestly don’t know… they were something of a rarity when I was growing up.. these days it seems almost every suburban neighborhood has one regardless of the income level…

There are even businesses out there that “manage” HOA now… they collect all the dues, enforce all the rules, etc.., they aren’t actual home owners in the neighborhood.. the association hires them and pays them out of the homeowners dues to do all the work other than host the monthly meeting where the Karen’s all gather to determine what new rules they want to impose…

They can serve a useful purpose if properly managed.. you won’t have a neighbor raising chickens in his back yard and have a rooster crowing 10 feet from your bedroom window… and you won’t have some neo hippy painting their house in purple and orange hues when every other house in the neighborhood is painted in traditional earth tones, etc…

But… as an example of the PIA of dealing with an HOA.. we had a storm come through about 2 years ago that destroyed my fence… I’ve got dogs.. I needed the fence repaired quickly…

It took me almost 3 weeks to get the HOA to approve me building a new fence that was going to be identical to the fence I lost…

After waiting a full week for a response I basically told them to kiss my ass, I was moving forward without them..

So I received a nastygram from some HOA officer declaring that I was building the fence at risk and that if they didn’t approve it after it was built they’d force me to take it down, rebuild another at cost, etc..

To which I replied they’d have to sue.. so go on and ask the members if they’re prepared to have their dues increased to cover legal fees due to the incompetence of the HOA and its inability to approve a necessary, emergency project in a timely manner… and to prepare for the counter suit…

Never heard another word out of them other that getting a letter in the mail 2 weeks later approving the fence to be built..

Sadly that’s not an uncommon interaction with an HOA..
I think HOAS were originally to keep the neighborhoods clean as no ,4 cars on blocks with the hoods up type deal or no purple painted houses with graffiti trim. at any rate it gives"has beens "or "wanna bes" a chance to sit on a board and RULE.

Iran is sitting pretty. Or at least prettier. If Trump could get his craziness under control for at least a few days in a row, maybe the US would be in a better position to bargain. Given the events of the past week, I think Iran can maybe sit on their hands a little longer to see if Trump doesn't go completely off the rails. Should they be negotiating with crazy people? The world did not react well to Vance walking out so quickly. Then the Jesus Trump thing and slamming the pope. Public opinion is swinging in their favor ... a bit. Or rather swinging away from US ... a lot. It's a mess. Rubio is not a genius by any means but he's got more common sense than Trump and the rest of his cabinet combined.
DO you remember when Iran took over our embassy and took hostages, do you remember, and finally Carter after dithering around ok'd a mission to rescue, which failed due to 3 major problems. do you remember the hostages were released a day or so before MAN named RON REAGAN took his sit in the oval office. do you remember?

There are reasons that rational institutions don't try to set policy based on anecdotal evidence like "have you been to El Paso." While statistics are imperfect, anecdotal arguments like yours are inherently limited and personally biased, and lead one away from proper analysis not towards it.

I understand that the current regime is quite anti-intellectual, but that is a pretty authoritarian road to go down. It is not surprising that fascism was inherently anti-intellectual and xenophobic. Those guys knew how to profit from humanity's worst instincts as well.

But to be fair it is just as big a problem on the fanatical left as on the fanatical right. They suggest all white folks are evil and use anecdotal evidence, while people on the right just do the same thing to convenient outsiders. And the beat goes on. Suckers get led around by their prejudices to dance like trained seals for their puppet masters.

I am a huge Reagan fan. But I might suggest the Iran-Contra deal was the low point of his career.

Those were particularly good days for Canadians though. I remember after we had smuggled out a number of U.S. embassy staffers through our embassy that every time I went to visit my relatives in Michigan people were thanking us like we had done it ourselves and buying us drinks. Good times.

You have no idea how far Colorado has fallen in the last fourteen years. The Marxist Democrats are running it into the ground.

Well, I see this morning Trump is playing with his Photoshop again. This time he's posted an AI generated image of Jesus embracing him. Caption was "God plays his Trump card." Maybe not as crazy as pretending to be God incarnate, but genuinely stupid. Yep, I'm sure Christ would wrap his arms around a philandering billionaire who persecutes impoverished immigrants. Somehow I just can't picture that happening. Do what ya gotta do, Donald, but leave God out of it. Man, is he stupid ... with a capital S.
WELL I dont know , Christ wrapped his arms around me, so stranger things can happen

Like I said, your statistics rely on arrest and court records that are incomplete. Garbage in, garbage out.

Scholars still debate whether Peter actually authored the two books. He was supposed to have been a humble fisherman, and at that time very few in the general laboring population were literate. The language was also Greek not Hebrew. Perhaps he had a scribe with him during his travels. Anyway the sections you cited exhort women to submit to their husbands while husbands are merely directed to respect their wives. There seems to be a difference between blind submission and showing respect. The difference being that the husband must always be the boss but act with benevolence. There is no implication of equality. Quite the contrary.
WHERE do you get that Paul was a humble fisherman, he was a studied pharisee and in line for the chief Sanhedrin position, and most likely spoke 3 lanquages and was a roman citizen. That is before he was knocked down by a blinding brite holy lite from THE Christ.

Yup. Give an asshole a little authority and he thinks he's God.

I’ve yet to see anyone make a convincing biblical argument justifying the American Revolution. The context of Aaron’s post was in response to my post about reading Romans chapter 13.
Believe it .GOD has ALWAYS used imperfect men doing things in imperfect ways to advance his cause and for his Glory.WE all fall short in many ways but his truth marches on , and stand fast in your liberty. by the way just curious how you feel about the Romans over throwing Judea and Jerusalem and the Temple, 68-70 AD. Or even the war between the states 1862.

I get your perspective. At what point (actions by an unjust government) would you believe a Christian is just in opposing his government? If Government murdered your family under a new punitive law, would Romans 13 still apply?
