It is pretty simple. Map exercises are not war plans. In staff college we fought at the operational level all over Kansas and Colorado. But there is no corresponding war plan.

Did some digging, and the native Greenland population does have the right of self-determination and could vote to no longer be under Danish sovereignty.Which is why I put the caution on the source. Their international reporting is typically factual, however their animus toward this administration has been clear from the start.
During WWII we and the British occupied large areas of Europe and North Africa at the behest of exiled governments. Morocco and Tunisia are the closest analogy to Greenland. We also were given extensive basing rights in Greenland during the Cold War which was also the case across much of Western Europe. None of that has anything to do with Danish sovereignty anymore than British, German, or French sovereignty.
To occupy Greenland would be an act of war against a fellow NATO member. That action would destroy the alliance. The senate has recently passed into law that any withdrawal from NATO would require 2/3 senate approval. An action that accomplished the same thing or led to a state of war with the alliance would require, at least to my mind, the same Senate approval thus making such an order illegal.
Finally, we still have the same basing rights we have always had in Greenland but have not exercised since the end of the Cold War. We can, in coordination with the Danes, exercise any Alliance related defensive measures the President and the SECDEF deem appropriate.
Finally, Trump can pay each inhabitant of Greenland a mil each. I am sure they would be grateful. Such bribery would in no way affect sovereignty. This whole bit of international theater is unworthy of this country.
I think Trump should take Cuba first. It would be a good warm up. Scare Greenland into submission.
Iran cutoff internet access to the populace. Trump is in discussions with Elon Musk.
Maybe Musk will fire up the Starlink for the Iranians?
Is this the kind of thing you want the US doing? I don't think it's how the good old US of A should roll. If Trump does this, he is no better than Putin.
That is what I understand was the reason to pay citizens of Greenland. I suppose it would be buying votes.Did some digging, and the native Greenland population does have the right of self-determination and could vote to no longer be under Danish sovereignty.
And we wonder why we have problems!?

Minneapolis Is Not Even a Close Call - a Lawsplainer on Officer-Involved Shootings
A detailed analysis of the legal implications surrounding officer-involved shootings in Minneapolis.redstate.com
It’s all connected. In the same spirit as any article from the Babylonbee, I offer the following in-depth analysis:
1. Trump authorized military and police action to capture Maduro and control Venezuela. BTW, Venezuela means "Little Venice." No wonder "Little Marco" is in charge.
2. Trump now wants Greenland, for strategic reasons, minerals and lots of ICE.
3. Trump will soon build a massive resort in Venezuela, with timeshares.
4. Trump will give all Greenlanders a timeshare.
5. Greenlanders will travel to Venezuela and discover warm weather is so much nicer than cold weather.
6. All Greenlanders move to Venezuela and Trump moves into Greenland, with no shots fired.
