2. The Republicans continue to go with the establishment leadership using the same old tactics that have resulted in loses or narrow wins ever since 1988.

This doesn't square with reality. If anything Trump is not "old Republican establishment leadership"... but is precisely the opposite. I'm afraid that when people say this they really mean, "We want our kind of insider politician who talks really slick and is a good salesman".

Also, over the years I've run into a lot of people, who if you understand human nature, traits and behaviors and spend enough time around them, will sooner or later, reveal how they really feel inside and how they make such judgments on people like Trump. Actually given enough time and encouragement, they just can't hep it. TDS is especially prevalent with southern Democrats (even closet Southern Democrats) but can apply to both white guilt new agers and those whose families bought into FDR's New Deal Socialism and goes something like, "My pappy was a Democrat, my grandpappy was a Democrat, my great grandpappy was a Democrat so by God, Jefferson Davis, Huey Long and Sheets Byrd so am I". Sadly sometimes it's no more sophisticated than that.

@fourfive8 Evidently in the endeavor to keep it short I was not clear. the comments did not refer to President Trump as I infer you concluded. the "establishment" to which I was referring is the Republican Party with Ronna (Romney) McDaniel Chair. the party had an election and the opportunity to move away from the NeverTrump wing of the party, but chose not to. So the Republican party remains its second worst enemy as far as winning elections.

The Republicans could have Jesus as President and St. Peter as VP and still lose if the national party does not get their rear in gear and start working on a vote harvesting plan where legal and suing now in the states where it’s not. Short of that it’s over except who will be the D candidate, Biden, RFK, Jr or god help us Gavin Newsom.

The Republican Party is split between the old guard and MAGA, which includes many newly arrived blue collar democrats. The old guard is happier losing than allowing MAGA to gain power within the Republican leadership. Thus, the Republican leadership will not fight mail in ballots/ballot harvesting until there is no threat of Trump winning. At that point, will it be too late.

It is sad to see the "Drag Queens", knowing how much they REALLY REALLY REALLY wanted to be Female and have parts like Dolly Parton- but no amount of make-up, augmented clothing, hormones or surgery is going to make it so. I would suggest that South Africa getting into bed with either China or the US governments is probably unwise at this time. The world is quickly heading towards a new Cold War era or worse and one could argue easily that doing business with either is positive but becoming politically entangled with either probably has more negatives than positives right now. But it’s too late as they are already in BRICS. South Africa has the same problem most of the world, including the US has, piss poor leadership. I’m not confident things will improve in the US with the lack of unity on the right and neither China nor Russia are likely to change much either.

China will, in all likelihood, become a failed state within the next 10 years. Their population is in freefall. They simply won’t have the workers needed to maintain their economy. Feeding themselves will become neigh on impossible. The U S has lost interest in being the guarantor of global free trade. This will hurt China most of all.
Now, the poliicos in Southern Africa can make a $h!t pot of money in bribes from the Chinese between now and when China implodes. All they have to do is allow the Chinese to rape and pillage their countries ecological resources. This, I’m afraid, is already baked into the cake.

Agreed. Trump is the newest version and spearhead of the GOP establishment. Lets get that out of the way first.

The right or just POV: Trump did amazing things for the economy, the country, and pretty much everyone from the white collar elite to the common working (blue collar) man. He was/is an absolute buffoon of a human. If he could learn to keep his mouth shut he would have gotten reelected.

The realistic POV: Trump stands 0% change of winning against even Biden, if he gets the nomination. Is it right and fair? Nope. But lots of things are not fair. The GOP are guilty of the same "idealistic" nonsense the dems are. Prop up a candidate because he fits the bill but has 0% chance of being elected.

Follow this one:

Biden has a double digit re-election margin in polling, right now, over Trump in 2024. Like 30%.
Trump has a double digit lead over DeSantis, right now, in the GOP primary polls.
DeSantis has a margin, albeit slim, over Biden in the popular vote for 2024.

What does that tell you, as of now? Trump is unelectable against a guy who literally is a walking vegetable. DeSantis really has a chance. Guy is actually pulling votes from moderate dems and those right leaning. But we won't support him? Why? Because we have to support someone who was unjustly criminally charged because it's "the right thing to do?"

If that doesn't highlight the idiocy that is the GOP party in 2023 I don't know what does. Its maddeningly frustrating that people on the right are willing to just throw a vote out the window and end up in another 4 years of misery because "Trump 2024!!!!!"

Dole? McCain? Romney? I mean c'mon. We keep doing this over and over and over.

I will absolutely not vote for Trump in the primary. Right now it looks like 99% DeSantis for me. If Trump gets the nomination I will without a doubt vote for him. I would never vote Dem because I absolutely don't support pedophiles, "delusionists", and communists.

And I suppose the 15 or so hold outs who made sure conservative guardrails were in place before OKing the the new speaker were all old Republican establishment types also? I remember the finger pointing and name calling at them and their supporters as real democracy was on full display. I'm not sure many of the detractors and whiners know the difference and simply enjoy sitting on the sidelines in a delusional, comfortable position and throwing stones, playing the "I'm an independent thinker game". I have several acquaintances who to this day smugly play the same game following the 2020 election. When asked about how they like the current train wreck in the WH and the current admin that literally threatens this country, they think they escape the reality by claiming to have not voted for Biden. Saying such crap as, "Don't blame me, I didn't vote for Biden. I voted for such and such because I didn't like Trump (fill in the blank reason- usually parroted talking points endlessly droned by CNN since 2016." But as they tell me this, the reality is inescapable. "By playing that game you did get Biden elected!" Denial can be bliss I guess.
