I'd like to consolidate the loads for this calibre as I feel they are sparse and spread out in this great knowledge base. Please post your favourites so that we have the information in one place...

Federal Trophy Bonded Bear Claw & Sledgehammer Solid 500Gr factory loads.

I will have to get my notebook, I have a pretty extensive list of loads that i have tried in my Kreighoff with several different projectiles and powder from H4831sc, H4350, RL16, RL22, RL25, H1000, and Vhitavhouri N170. I have tried different loads with the above powders with CEB 500 solids and 460 raptors, 500 grain Barnes TSX and Swift A Frame

Right now my go to loads for softs is
111.5 grains of H4831sc 500 grain Swift Aframe in federal nickel brass with a federal 215 and a hefty crimp.
Solids are CEB 500 grain with 110 grains H4831sc and federal nickel cases with 215 primers and a hefty crimp.
Both chronograph right at 2180fps and the A frame load shoots them about 1/2" apart at 50 yards. I still need to do some further accuracy testing with the solids.

I only have one, so I guess that makes it my favorite. I’ve only concentrated on using softpoint and have not yet bothered with solids as I was preparing for buffalo.

Fed 215 primer, 109gr of H4831 behind a 500gr A-Frame results in about 2180fps in my rifle. This is using Hornady or Jamison brass and also using a Lee FCD that I had to special order. On average about an 1” +/- of space between left and right barrels at 50 yards. Left is always left and right is always right btw.

If interested in the FCD, Lee is still making them per order. @BnC 04 just received one in the last week or so.

I also tried North Fork bonded cores, but I could not get the accuracy that the A-Frames gave me. Probably accurate enough for buffalo distances, but I always go with the most accurate.

That load is very similar to mine. Might be something to the H4831 and the A Frames. They really shoot in my 470. You shooting a Kreighoff too?
I need to order one of the Lee FCD.

I have a Searcy. I’m no expert on doubles, still quite new to that world. But it seems like more often than not H4831 is the powder used to regulate 470’s. And if you’re trying to regulate to a MV of 2150-2200 fps it only makes sense that the powder weight will be similar rifle to rifle.

Serious
500 TSX over 103 gr H1000 & GM215M primers

Smaller game & practice
420 WFN-GC over 28 gr TB & same primers

I have got to get me some trail boss or some 5744 and a bunch of cast bullets. That would make that gun all kinds of fun for all manner of stuff!

Have you choreographed that H1000 load? I tried almost that same load and it shot good but was only getting around 1700fps.

The it does was re the TB. The H1000 sounds low. Can only thibk primers or brass. I'm shooting Barnes brass.

H4831sc is my powder for softs. Have some 500gr CEB solids loaded with H4831 and Imr4831 but haven't been out to test them out yet.

Backyardsniper.. I was running true to Barnes data in mid 1900s. Components and barrels vary. Those 2 loads happened to work particularly well for me. Both group great and in same vertical line. Just flip up the 150 sight for the reduced loads.

Do you think the 1900's is generating enough energy, enough to open and get sufficient penetration?

Isn't the RCBS seating die able to crimp as well?

Hornady seater for certain does, not sure about the RCBS. I just like the Lee as you can see the amount of crimp you’re getting and adjust easier in my opinion.

The RCBS does crimp, that's what I run, however it is easy to crush some shoulders when setting it up. I think the FCD may be a better option.
