Well just picked up a CZ550 Magnum action that was a guys .416 Rigby project, very reasonable priced as well.

Unusual as it has a sterile unfinished action, I think also fitted with a ZKK602 bottom metal ?

Thing is I don’t want a .416 so I asked about for a take off barrel, hopefully in .458 but .375 would do as a bash about rifle that I’d cut down & fit a Bell & Carlson stock to.

Well you wouldn’t believe it but what turns up is a CZ550 Safari Magnum take off barrel in - - - .416 Rigby, so it might end up being a .416 after all !!

That's awesome! Has the action been worked at all? Pretty cool set of pieces to build a rifle out to whatever you want. You didnt ask, but I'd put the fore end of that stock on a diet. Seems hefty. But I bet that stock sands down and finishes up to something interesting.

Thank you, yes it’s a nice piece of Walnut, fresh off the Pantograph with very little finishing work done, I don’t want a project myself, I’ll sell off the new .416 barrel & that stock which should see me with a good priced action.

The action hasn’t even been factory finished by the looks & doesn’t even have a serial number, be a couple or more hours cleaning that up.

Good stuff! I built a .338 lapua on a CZ550 action and really enjoy hunting with it.

what do you want for the 416 barrel? I am looking for one.

You lucky bugga

Sarge, that should make a FINE hunting rifle. I hope to be picking up my BRNO ZKK 602 in 416 Rigby from my FFL later today or tomorrow. Are you going to have Garry finish that stock for you?

I’d love to pass the Lothar Walther .416 barrel on but I & the barrel are in NZ at this time @AZDAVE.

While I’m sure he’d make a great job, I can fit & finish it up myself if I wished to but I don’t want a fancy DG rifle, just a work type rifle or loaner.

I have a lot of Lee Speed stocks to fit & finish up as well & have been dragging my A#% on those, unfortunately our biggest issue here in NZ is someone who can checker our stocks !

When I went to Cabela's to get my first real big bore I wasn't sure if I was going for a 458 or a 416 but it was going to be a Winchester they had several on hand the 458s had very poor grade wood the 416 had really nice wood so I became a 416 guy although I now have both.

Unfortunately as it’s not the caliber I wanted, I have a factory CZ takeoff .416 Rigby barrel coming, as it turns out it has killed a few of the largest animals in the World !

what kind of velocity does the 140 grains list, curious how they would fit in with my current 130 gr, supply of 270s. maybe a pic of the box data listing vel. and drop. Oh and complements on that ammo belt, nice.
