Owning Multiple Rifles from the Same Manufacturer?

Previously I'd have disagreed. I consider any of the 257s a better cartridge for deer and similar game but the 243 did have a place for shooting prairie dogs in windy country, however with the advent of 1-7" twist barrels in .224 cartridges so that 90 grain High BC bullets can be used, the 243 loses out even in that category.
@Ray B
That's what I've been saying for years.
I've just been reading volume 1 of P.O Ackley hand book for shooters and reloaders. One 25 cal that caught my eye was the 25 Condor. It has a 1 in 7 twist barrel and fires a 160 grain 25 cal projectiles at up to 3,000 fps. The parent case is the 7x61 Sharpe and Hart.
That's some serious sectional density and a very high bc.

Bob not actually useless it makes a fine woodchuck round in our hilly section of NY. I have probably posted this before but at the risk of repeating myself. I used mine to shoot 2 deer, heart shots both but and for me it is a big but. Both were shot within 40 yards and both died within sight of the stand. Now for the but, there were no blood trails and no exit wounds. Not my cup of tea as Bob says I traded it for drumroll please a 20 savage. Got exit wounds now. Just one hunters opinion.

@Dr Ray
It's a pity it took you a few years to work out it a POS you did learn and can now speak from experience how useless the 243 is.
Bob

I like the 243 for pigs but as I use the 270 for critters up to and including deer.
I gave my 243 to a step son.
I have a 30/30 to another step son and gave 4 rifles to my son Craig in Victoria.
These included a 222 and 270.

If gunlaws and budget were better here i would have had 3 clawfed ,same action . M70 or Dakota , option 2 Hansen 704 receivers

1 light weight 22or 23 barrel,light McM stock or BC ,3-9x scope. Open Safari sights, Talleynrigs.

2. Medium weight one 24 inch 3-10x scope,

Bull barrel 24 or 26 inch, 4-14 scope, like a M40 A1 clone

Cartridge,
Why not .375 HH or so.

Now, all you need is a Blaser S2 in .500/416 Nitro Express.

I used 90 grain Speer bullet with 44grains AR2209/4350
I think that was my load. Found it quite good on goats.
I also found the 243 was a bugger to get good groups. I tried many powders, bullets, and primers.
Took me a fair while to get good accuracy!!
I used (from memory) W760.”, 4320 AR2206, a Canadian war surplus powder - I think something like 4740??
When I changed to 4350 the groups simply halved.
Australian powder 2209 emulates 4350 so I used that.
