So I just bought a .577NE. Yep I dont "need" it; but heck its sooo darn cool that I had to have it. Actually I bought it about a year ago and in some fit of sanity, I sold it to a shop, in order to buy a double 470. Yep, that sounded so much more practical and the 577 was just so out there, that I gave in and did the trade for the 470; but from the day I walked away from the 577, I wanted it back.

The next time I was in the shop, I asked about it and was told it was sold.... I felt like I abandoned a child. I kept telling myself the 470 was better. Oh yeah I had lots of excuses, what if I lost my ammo enroute, and the 470 had more factory loadings, etc, etc. Still I missed my 577

Last week I was cruising the auction and saw MY 577. Yep it was mine, there just werent many like it. Its a Ruger No1 converted by SSK and its gun number 3. Yeah its only a single shot; but it was mine, the one I bought and sold! The one I had to have back!

I called the shop first thing in the morning and told them I wanted it. We worked it out and I brought her home today. My buddy road with me to the shop. He made one attempt to tell me how much hunting I could do with what I was paying for MY rifle, then assumed the good friend role and let me buy it without further interference.

I was tempted to work on some light loads for game in the US; but that just seems wrong, besides whats that matter with hunting Wild Boar with full power 577s; it just more practice for Africa.

Now theres still the double 8 Bore to be had, and maybe the 4 bore.....Oh and I did see a 2 bore muzzle loader.

Wants are "needs" all their own

I think the 577 makes a perfect vermin rifle. LOL

I hope it is safe cozy and warm.

Glad its only a single. You would need to install the gun bearer option if it were a double.

Any pictures of this brute?

The best thing about a 577 is that your never undergunned. the 470 was a logical choice arent you glad to get that out of your system?

That pretty much sums it up (LOL).

I look at guns like fine woman...each with their own stunning good looks. You can never have enough!

Lp!

It's not a need, it's love. The same was done when I put the produce, on request, bolt action rifles in caliber 9.3 x64. It's not a need, it's love. I wish you much pleasure in hunting with it!

Just moving to DM. Yes, please ask your friend if he knows somebody who might be willing to support a persistent hunt in the snow.

Hi Paul,
This is Daniel from Mankazana Safaris.

I saw your post regarding a hunt in Africa. I am sure you have been bombarded with messages and replies from other outfitters, so I will keep this one quick.
I have a feeling we have exactly what you need for a first safari.
If you'd like to hear more, please don't hesitate to reach out.
