On Safari in New York

You have definitely squeezed in a lot in a few days!

Back in the city for Breakfast, then heading to One Vanderbilt Observatory, then the Met…

You have brought more “culture” to this site than I’ve experienced in my 61 years!

Love it.
I typically abhor going to NYC but there are jewels to be found.

Very much enjoy your kindred spirit tour

Thank you for taking so much time posting all this. Like so many well written hunt reports here this thread reminds me to go to, see and experience special places. I especially liked the Degas painting. I’d never seen it before.

Really enjoying the virtual tour. Thanks for sharing!

If you are still there, try to head to the Met’s rooftop. You can eat, have coffee, and the view across the park is wonderful. After leaving the museum, cross 5th and walk down (south) on Madison to window shop. Sant Ambroeus in the upper 60s is a great place for coffees, and the food is pretty good, too. Beretta is nearby, too, and if you visit there be sure to go straight to the back of the store and take the elevators to the gun room. The gunroom is not advertised but you’ll see a good selection of shotguns and some rifles. There’s a million excellent restaurants, but try to get into Keene’s if you can. The place has been in business for 100+ years, and churchwarden pipes once smoked after dinner by regular guests still hang from the ceiling. You’ll see pipes that belonged to many notables, including TR if memory serves well. Have fun.

Very good stuff. Right up my alley. The Akeley hall of African animals was a monumental achievement. He was a genius and literally gave his life for his art. The amount of work it took to care for this specimens in the field and get them back to the states can’t be understated.

I’m home now. Got into SF last night in the am. You can spend two to three days at the MET. My brother works for JPM, so most of the museums are part of a membership for employees and he gets to bring a guest…

I walked about 35 miles in 5 days, so I saw a lot. Ate at some great restaurants and had a lot of local fare… Pizza at a couple different spots, bagels, (I brought some smoked salmon and Bluefin too), ate a few different types of NY Cheesecake including Junior’s, not too much “street food”, but ate at a couple great Italian restaurants. Hit a couple bars for Irish Coffee and cocktails…

The city is best enjoyed on foot. Sounds like you did it right. If you are back during baseball season, get your brother to get you into the swank JPM box at Yankee stadium.

Fantastic post !! Thanks. -Made my day at work go fast . NYC was always a great place to visit very sad what’s going to happen to it .

I have no idea the shipping cost from here to Costa Rica. I can do my research on shipping and get back with you later today.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
