I was handgun shooting at an indoor range last Saturday.
Now I bent down (kneeled from memory) to use a rest.
I fired the 22 semi auto. Yikes the gun bit me!
Obviously I was holding wrongly - honestly cannot remember what I did though (stupidity obviously)
ALSO cannot seem to find 22 high velocity cartridges. I need those to cycle the bolt.

That looks more messy than I would have thought a .22 capable off. Your finger got in the slide?

Ouch!

Sorry to see your 22 bit you like that. That handgun caught my eye though. My dear old 90 year old mother has that exact same model. I haven't seen another until now.

I think that we all have done that at one time or another.

Dr Ray, how do you normally grip this handgun? I have been "bitten" by several 22 semi-auto slides, although the "bites" generally involve parts of the thumb.

I had a walther ppk, that used to leave its mark on my hand from the slide but two little slices ....that looks much more painful of a bite

Ray, did you try to shoot the end of your finger off??

I’m right handed. Grip with RH and wrap lh around gun and r h.
I really cannot think of what I did ![emoji23]

I was given this gun. The man who gave it to me also gave me a 30/30.
I’ll post a photo of the rifle.
The handgun is a Star.nice little gun (but with a wicked attitude as I found out).

Dr. Ray, you've got me baffled as well. Given a proper two-handed grip, the index finger of the weak (in this case your left) hand should be below your trigger finger. Could this have been caused by something other than the pistol?

Try CCI Stinger, AR Tactical or Cooper 22. My first generation Sig Sauer Mosquito will only cycle consistently with both rounds.

I really don’t know
I was basically bending over (just about kneeling)
So I must not have held the gun properly
Sure did know about it when I fired

I obviously didn’t wrap left hand around gun and my right hand
But I really don’t know what I did
The incredible pain and blood pouring out erased that positioning of my left hand
Hard to believe that a 22 could be so severe
Yikes

I need to know if this is legit. Photo with today's paper would do it.

I just saw Budsgunshop.com has both the guide gun and the African for $1150. FWIW - I bought both and decided to use the Guide gun - I restocked it in a Bell and Carlson stock and I added the Alaska arms floor plate to add a round. I wanted the shorter barrel as I will use a suppressor. I wont go lower than $1100, but I will ship it and no sales tax.

Let me know if you are interested
