Someone recently gave me a Nikon Buckmasters 4-12x50 scope, and I noticed that the reticle looks unusual to me. I tried my best to capture it in the picture below; but if you look closely at where the horizontal line of the duplex reticle intersects with the vertical line, the left side intersects at a slightly higher point than the right side does. This doesn't look right to me, but I'm not an expert on Nikon scopes; so is it possible that this is by design? Or is it more likely that the scope is damaged? Have any of you ever seen something like this?

I have several Nikon scopes and none of them look this way. I'd contact Nikon about sending it in for repair.

Thanks! Does Nikon still do scope repair even though they are out of the scope business? What is their warranty like?

I’m almost certain they no longer take in scopes for repair.

Thanks, and that is what I wondered about. I think I can still make the scope work; just looks a little funny to the eye.

Damaged or bad quality control when it left the factory.

Good question, I don't know the answer. I'd Google up Nikon USA and see if I could find a phone number. I can say many years ago I had a scope that lost its seal and moisture made it into the scope as shown by fog on the inside lens of the eye piece. I took it to the shop I bought it from, they returned it to Nikon and in short order they sent me a new one.

Since then I've not had any of mine go down.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
