Ok I have purchased a chapui 470 n.e. It's regulated with Federal 500 grain woodleigh s.p. Anyone have an idea of a good starting point to get 500 grain North Fork ss points to shoot same point of impact?

H4831 is what I use in mine. I am going to be trying the faster powder with a wad to go with a smaller charge and recoil. But until I get that figured out, H4831 / H4831SC is the go to powder. It was also the powder in my previous 470NE.

Look up starting loads online and just work your way up in 0.5-1 grain increments and watch the bullet holes converge.

I use h4350. If you have a good chronograph, or preferably a garmin Doppler device, chronograph the factory regulated load, then start low and work your way up. With double rifles what works in one may not work in the other. With 4350 my rifle ends up in the mid 90’s for powder charge with Woodleigh 500 gr. North fork general require more charge because of their design. Again start low and work your way up.

*this is in no way a load recommendation, only what I sorted out that works in my rifle.

Make sure you use a kynoch filler wad as well otherwise you might ring the chamber, a bad mistake.

I have been shooting my Chapuis 470 for the last couple weeks working on loads and consistency. I leave tomorrow for the Dark Continent and an appointment with a Cape buffalo.
Mine seems to digest almost everything I throw at it well. Both barrels stay inside of 3 1/2" at 50 yds with several different loads and bullets, if I do my part.
I have settled on 500gr TSX's pushed by 82.5 gr of Reloader 15.5 and a Trader Keith foam wad. Again, if I do my part, they will regulate at less than an inch with them often touching. Speed is right at 2075fps.
I am also taking a few CEB solids pushed by 83gr of 15.5 that groups close enough to give me no worries.
4831 and 4831SC shot very well too, with slightly more speed, but much more recoil due to the increased amount of powder.
Good luck and enjoy a fine rifle.

P.S. JJ Perodoux recommended 79gr of 3031 for a starting point as well.
And as always, start low and work your way up. What is safe for me, may not work for you.

What powders require a filler and what do you use for a filler?

I used Kynoch foam wads from Trader Keith with the 15.5 or the 3031. The 4831 and 4831SC filled the case well enough that I did not use any filler. It will depend on the powder you use and the amount of case fill it gives you.
JJ recommended 2gr of polyester. (Pillow stuffing)

The regulation load that came with my Sabatti .470ne from Ken Owen is….

78gr IMR3031, 2.0gr Dacron, Win mag primer and 500gr Woodleigh

I switched to Kynoch foam wads instead of Dacron and it shoots the exact same.

Also my gun will shoot Woodleigh and Hornady bullets to the same POI and regulation as well as Hornady factory ammo.

The Hornady factory ammo recoils MUCH harder than the 3031 hand loads; with nearly identical velocity.

I think it’s closed? It’s what you stuff into large cracks before caulking gaps in windows, masonry, etc. Comes in 3/8, 1/2, 5/8 diameter etc. I usually cut 3/4 to 1” pieces depending on the gap I want to take up.
