Town on a friday afternoon

After going to town we came back to the farm to start trying to local the zebra again. Before we got there we spotted what looked like a good kudu bull, it wasnt until we got a little closer we ruled him out. I truly appreciated Carel being honest and saying we could probably do better or that one needed more age. He was never trying to push a kill. We looked everywhere for the zebra to no avail for hours. One thing to note was how the past 2 days it was like the dik dik on the property just vanished. Im assuming it was weather related or moon phase related but I was glad we had already checked mine off the list at this point. It was just about quitting time when the trackers tapped on the roof. Finally the herd of zebra had slipped up in this game of cat and mouse. We bailed from the truck and made a quick mad dash to get closer to them. Up on the sticks I was just about to squeeze when they started running. No shot but the all of the sudden a stallion stopped. Bam the shot looked good to everyone. We ran up to the impact site. We were tossing light fast. As we were looking for blood the tracker spotted the hurt zebra trying to sneak away. We follow quickly. We caught up to it and once again only a texas heart shot. With that shot he spun around and I put another into his broadside vitals. He collapsed right next to a road. Couldn't get any luckier on a late evening hunt. Hero pictures in the dark. I had my male Hartman's mountain zebra in the salt. This one will be a wall pedestal mount opposite my Burchells zebra. Once again my back and body was happy we had a winch. When we got back to the skinning shed there was a whole family waiting on us. It was so cool to see the kids so happy and excited to help in the process with the zebra.

We made a game plan for the next day at dinner. We would do a morning hunt on a nearby property where a big warthog was using a water hole. Then we would be traveling south to prepare for the giraffe hunt. Dinner hit the spot once again. Then it was lights out after a hot shower. My feet were happy when I took my boots off that night.

Day 6
Before breakfast I packed up all my stuff and got my envelopes ready for this csmps staff tips. We would hunt the morning then come back to eat lunch before heading south. Well lady luck wasnt on our side. They wind was blowing hard all morning. Not good weather to hunt warthogs over water. We drove around the property for a couple hours. We saw eland, gemsbok, impala, and red heartabeast. It was a beautiful property but nothing took a ride to the salt shed. When we got back to camp we ate our lunch and packed the buggy up. I gave the staff tips and thanked them. Especially the farm tracker as he had worked some hard long hours with us. Took some daylight pictures of the camp. It was a picture perfect setting nestled along a dry red sand river bottom.

The rest of the day would be a travel day. We had made plans to stop at a brand new taxidermy shop later in the day. So with some free time Carel asked me if I would like to see the local high school rugby game. Why not was my answer. I had many questions but it was enjoyable watching. The real entertainment is watching the fans cheering and yelling. We left Outjo and headed south to Tembo Taxidermy. From my understanding the owner was part of Kings Taxidermy but had just branched out on his own in March. It was very impressive to see what they had going on in such a short time. Tembo Taxidermy is located in Otjiwarongo. The same town Carel and his lovely family live in. This would be are base camp for the giraffe hunting.

wow great hunt and location. @375Fox speaks highly of Namibia and I will be leaving in September to hunt there for my first time for my second try at leopard.
