We wrapped up day 2 eating at the lodge that night and sitting around the fire snacking on more biltong. An excellent first day hunting in Nairobi. Even though I didnt have my target animal the dik dik it sure was a relief to see so many the first day. My head hit the pillows hard that night.

Day 3
We decided the night before to get up early and drive to the back canyon on the property to glass for kudu and zebra mainly. The canyon held some water and the trees and bushes with the most green foliage on the property we in the valley of it. Today the wind was blowing much harder. We spend hours driving and stopping on the top perimeter of the canyon. Glassing below for any sign of life. We did see a pair of klifspringers. But that was about it for the canyon. I think the wind had everything tucked down.

We eventually started to see some kudu in the canyon lands but none that fit the bill. As the wind settled down and the sun rose higher we decided to go look around the flats of the property for dik dik. This property was a hot spot for dik dik and it didnt take long to start seeing them. After what felt like stopping to look at 100 of them we finally found the one. When you PH just has one quick look and says thats a shooter you know its a good one. We made a quick game plan. The 22 hornet was dead on and down went the ram dik dik. When I pulled the trigger he was actually standing on his hind legs reaching up into a bush eating. He was the perfect dik dik to take. All the others had females with them. This guy was all.alone from what we could see. He had scars and torn up ears from fighting. Maybe a younger male had stolen his mate.

After taking photos of the dik dik it was time to load the beast up. Good thing we had this fancy landcruiser with a winch and pulleys lol. We headed back to the skinning shed. This property had a proper butchering area as it was a working cattle farm. In the time I ate lunch my tracker Billy and the landowners tracker had the dik dik pretty much skinned out for the full body mount I would be having done.

Were you on Lukas's farm ? When I see the canyon and the little mountains in the back ground, It looks like a lot to this place I visited in 2015.

I forgot to mention on the way to the skinning shed we say a jackal. Unfortunately he ran off before I could get the gun. That would of been icing on the cake after getting the dik dik. After a rest and lunch we went back out to see if we could find a kudu bull or some zebra. This property is so big with large blocks of bush with no roads. Having not seen anything promising from the roads we decided to walk for a couple hours into the middle of large blocks to see if we could see anything or see any tracks. I can tell you what I found. I think my legs found every thorn in the bush lol. Unfortunately no animals other then some duiker were spotted. Nonetheless I loved every minute of it.

Glad I didnt shot at anything and miss we would of probably found blood lol . Namibia bites back.

We spent the rest of daylight driving around the farm. We saw some more kudu, steinbok, springbok, duiker, and dik dik. We checked the canyon lands one last time in the evening then headed to camp. While.driving to camp I realized my phone was missing. No going to lie this worried me some. I was leaving Namibia to go to England on the way home and all my hotels, plane tickets, etc was on the phone. We decided no point of looking in the dark for it. We had a wonderful meal at camp and watched the flames of the fire while eating biltong. I personally dont drink alcohol so I didnt partake in any drinking around the fire.
