My Ceska 550 Safari Magnun in 458 Lott.

You entered the realm of hit and be hit when you selected the .458 Lott. Cinch your belt and practice. You'll grow accustomed to the recoil in time. Study videos for recoil management techniques. At first it will feel as though you're maybe not doing it right and getting out of the way of the gun. Well guess what!?! As long as your hit the target nobody cares. I must certainly look like I'm dancing a ridiculous jig between loading, firing and reloading my rifle. As long as you're not dancing backwards across the meadow with the recoil and declaring it but a maiden's kiss it's controllable enough.
No, I stayed put, but the blow I received was noticeable, and my shoulder hurt. I don't want to imagine if I had traded my .458 Lott Ceska for a .460 Weatherby Mark V without a muzzle brake. It would have been even worse.

I actually expected a strong recoil, but not that intense. I found it unpleasant, and that's what I expected from the 460 Weatherby and above, not the 458 Lott.

I bought it like that. I don't know if it's a customized model, at least I didn't request anything special. The Ceska I have, the 375 Holland, has a straight stock.

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
