Mauser M98 in 11,2x60 Schuler

What was the use for the 11,2 x60 Schüler, DG?
Also how much energy does it deliver from the muzzle?
I believe that I have a bit of loading data for it
I can look when I get home later today.

The cartridge 11,2x60 Schüler was more or less the rimless version of the old BP army cartridge 11mm Mauser for the rifle Mauser 71. I do think the idea was to develop a big game cartridge, but it seems to have failed for this purpose. Schüler designed certainly not without reasons the cartridge 11,2x72 shortly afterwards. Taylor is very negative about the cartridge 11,2x60 Schüler in his famous book, but he is not always very objective in his judgments.

Considering the scarcity of rifles in 11.2x60, what’s the chances Taylor actually had one?
Another ultra cool dream cartridge of mine.

I think, Taylor ment the rimmed version 11,15x60R, aka. .43 Mauser, witch was a common cartridge that days.
Another difference between 11,2x60 and 11,15x60R I think is, the rimless 11,2x60 was a nitro powder cartridge. The 11,15x60R was a black powder number, or nitro for BP. I think, this made the 11,2x60 a bit more powerfull than the rimmed version.
Not really sure for that, but l have never seen a 11,15 with nitro proove marks, and never a 11,2 with BP marks.

In CHAPTER IV The Large Medium Bores, right at the beginning, Taylor speaks briefly about a cartridge .440 (11,2mm) Mauser and immediately eliminates it as a cartridge suitable for hunting nowadays. It's difficult to say which one cartridges he means, the old BP cartridge 11,15x60R or the more modern NC cartridge 11,2x60 Schüler.

Everything you need for reloading this cartridge is hard to come by.
I turned down the rim of 11,15x60R cases to get 11,2x60 cases.
Bullet is a 270 gr flat nose from Degol.

370 gr would be much better...!!!
My quickload based data are:
72,0 gr N540, CCI200, COL 72,80 mm/ 2,866", comes with 2496 bar/36208 psi. CIP pressure limit is 2500 bar/36259 psi. 732 m/s / 2401 fps, 4685 Joule / 3455 ft.-lbs. From a 584 mm / 23" barrel.
This load is max and safe in my rifle only. So start low and work up carefully!

Jake, Sorry to bug you again. I was wondering if you could share a. couple actual pics of this crossbow with me?

Xpedition Archery USED Scrapeline390X Sniper Gray Crossbow XACW1001 - Light Wear - Needs Bolt/Arrow Guide Spring UA5689

If it is in a decent shape, would you be willing to sell it for $100 shipped? IS it missing the retention spring that goes over the bolt?
Thank you Ferenc
