If one had an option to hunt buffalo/sable OR lion, which should one choose? Assuming the cost was similar.

Next, and more pertinent question for me would be...are you talking about game farm buffalo or wild buffalo?

In answer to the question above I hunted Buff last year and lioness is this year, that was the order of precedence for me. The buff hunt with Marius at KMG was outstanding, hopefully I will have the same to say about lioness next month.

Not sure about that... I have to check. In the initial stages of planning ...

Buffalo

Man..... that is so hard. I'd save so you can do all 3!!!!! :)

However, if I had to decide..... I'd do Buffalo & Sable. A couple reasons. Importing back to the USA is one..... and then the fear of being the next Dentist dude, and having my life ruined. (n)

Only a question you can answer for yourself but when I answered for myself....it was buff.

Whichever you can hunt free range. If both are, then lion. Buffalo hunting will be around the longest of the remaining big 5 (before they are all closed - just being realistic). Lion could end at any time.

Brett hit the nail on the head. Free range lion. I was advised to hunt lion 10 years ago because even then, I was advised time for lion was limited. It was then, and is now, my greatest hunting memory and achievement. But as someone else pointed out, if you get a 21 day license, you should hunt buff and sable too. Good luck with a question that has two great answers.

That's a good call. My next major safari is going to be in western TZ for lion but I will certainly shoot buffalo as well and would never pass up a good sable!

Tanzania, while expensive, is still my favorite African country. So many different regions. Ruaha, Selous. North. I hope to return someday, but taking my son on his first African safari in SA for graduation next year, as well as going to Zim for the first time for another elephant, if USFW will screw their heads on right.

Welcome aboard @Mort Hill !

I'd vote for the buff/sable combo!

Lion by far, for the simple reazon that We don´t know what can happen with Lion hunting in a near future.

Without a doubt....Lion. However, hunt for your self and take what the Fates line up for you.

You might have edited your post on the PH in the Bubye. I know the PH and is a wonderful person and a fmaily man and runs a succesful business in Zim and just doesn't want the attention that the internet offers, the ugly kind.

Hello,

Am I reading your post correctly to say that the Tsavo rifle will be coming out with a composite stock later this year? I ask because I had been looking very hard for a Tsavo, but if there is going to be a composite stock model I will wait for that.

Thank you for your time,

Andrew

Saw your post. Nice. Denver too. Genesee area (just off 70) if ever up this way. Alternatively, do you have a membership at GGC? Whatever, you'll have a wonderful time in Africa. Enjoy.
