I am interested in the 360 Buckhammer, I don't live in a straight walled state, but will most likely hunt with my wife's cousin in Illinois and Iowa on their place and I think they have some kind of requirement like that.

My goal was to use a 45-70, but I don't have one of those either. I am moving back to America next year and interested in having a few lever guns.

I have a 360 Buckhammer barrel for my TC Encore. It is very accurate. I have only used it on 2 pigs. I was using the Remington 200gr ammo. I shot both on the shoulder at around 25 yards. Both dropped dead instantly and the bullets exited. One of the pigs was quartering towards me when I shot it.

Only Henry makes a Buckhammer rifle. Many, many others make a 45-70. 45-70 ammo is available in many places from many different manufacturers. Buckhammer is only Remington and Federal at this point.

Single-shot Rifles for Deer Hunting in Illinois: Every rifle must be single-shot configured - you would need to plug the magazine tube with a wooden dowels

I will admit that I own a Buckhammer, just have not shot it yet, but I also reload.

Very good to know on the single shots thank you.

Now that Thompson Center is back in business, older model and custom barrel prices have dropped. Also, SSK was bought out again and they are only producing the very expensive match grade barrels. Not sure how much better match grade barrels will shoot over the standard ones. I have a couple of the standard barrels and they are sub-MOA with most loads. Older SSK barrels can be found for really good prices now.

I think the TC Encore line is a lot of gun for the money and with all the barrel and stock options, they are like grown up Lego's.

Haus of Guns has new production encore actions with the pro hunter stock for $540.

Still idiots on gun broker wanting $850 for a 20 year old gun, of suspect production.

Marty and the people at Haus of Guns are great to deal with. I got one of the new production Encore action/stock sets from them when it came out in April. They were $480 then. He gave me a great deal on my 360 Buckhammer barrel as well. Midway has some SSK barrels marked down now.

I am happy that TC is back to producing their fine made in the USA products.

Safe shooting
