Hunting reports

We are in the final stages of hunt planning for the year.... we have flown Delta/KLM / AirFrance historically but by far the easiest route to Tanzania is with Kenya Airways both to and from with the connection in JFK and the direct offering through Nairobi. It seems to be a very affordable"business" option and the website says they transfer hunting firearms. I have my own personal reservations but hoping that maybe some of the esteemed travelers on the forum have some personal experience to either affirm my reservations or provide encouragement that I have found the new fastest and cheapest way to access East Africa. Thanks in advance...

Cheers,
CK

When I lived in Nigeria, my wife and I flew from Lagos to Nairobi on Kenya Airways. No issues or hesitation to do it again. Good airline and Nairobi airport wasn’t too bad either.

I believe the issue with connecting through Kenya would lie with your guns.

I have used them without guns and had a fine experience.

I have flown them a number of times. They are a very good airline. I have not flown with guns, although I would take them at their word if they say they can do it.

I fly them regularly from the states and around Africa, not my first, or second choice but safe and cheap usually. Typical Kenya attitude of slow inept service, they tend to keep it warm on the plane and usually run out of drinks and food. But they are friendly and did I say cheap?

I personally would not take a chance with firearms through Kenya, I go through the customs hassle many times a year and imagine that even with the correct paperwork you will battle to get through without paying some sot of corruption fee…. Even though the airport is a corruption free zone :-)

So not one thus far has used them with guns. Hmmm. I'd call @TRAVEL EXPRESS and see what they say.

Appreciate everyone's input.... We booked Qatar. That is what I was leaning towards, but further exacerbated by affirmation from Patrick at PWP Travel. Thanks again.

Cheers,
CK

Kenya airways is the worst airline I have flown. Frequent flight cancellations. Zero customer service. We waited 5 hours at the airport for transit accommodation and another 1 hour in the transit bus. Pathetic airline. Never again.

Jerome, do you think my last post in rough camping must maybe shift as an article?

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl
