Kenetrek, Meindle or Lathrop and Sons hunting boots

I’ve hunted Kyrgyzstan and believe you can’t go wrong with Kenetrek or Meindle. I wore Meindle that were pretty heavy boots with deployable spikes that came in handy on several occasions whether it be snow or shale. Kinda felt like James Bond hitting a switch and having steel spikes come out of my boots. Kyrgyzstan is still one of my favorite adventures! Best of luck.

İ have the same ones from Meindl .. they are great .. I wear them constantly in Russia ..

I have a pair of kenetreck mountain extreme I believe 400 gram thinsulate. I love them. I hunt out west every year in the mountains and for that application with wool socks and liners they work great for me . I have a size 13 foot and they fit well. Great luck on your hunt.

I had a pair of meindels leak on a Kodiak goat hunt and was miserable. Took them back and got a pair of Kenetreks. Much more ankle support. You will need it on Kodiak!

I have a pair of Kennetreks and love them. Mountain Extremes with 400gr insulation; they have served very well so far and are still going strong.

I have a pair of lathrop that have been exceptional boots. Last season I bought a pair of Zamberlan. They required a LOT of break in and still give me grief from time to time. New sores in different spots. . . I also had some trouble with customer service-lady on the phone said one thing, got an e mail saying another. Maybe my fault-all I was doing was exchanging for a half size bigger. I did help pack out an elk while wearing them and they were excellent that trip. I won’t buy Zamberlan again. Would try lathrop again and want to try Kenetrek, lowa and crispi. Remember, sheep guides are in those mtns all season, you will be there a week. Buy good quality wool socks (something I proved out the hard way as a wildland firefighter) and in Alaska I found toe warmers-on top of your toes, not beneath to be a lifesaver! Below are my Lathrops, well worn but still lots of life to give and the new Z's, still beating them to where I can like them! And the bull we packed out with external frame packs.

Nice bull!

Dont want to foot jack this thread but I'll tell the story of that bull on "hunting USA and Canada" -it deserves some press

Kennetrek, Lowa, etc... have all really just copied Meindl. I guide for 6 months each year and my vote is Meindl or Hoffman. Hoffman also sells Meindl. My guides have tried Kenetrek with mixed results. One of my goat and sheep guides returned his new Kenetreks for leaking and they wouldn’t replace them! Cabelas always will replace Meindls. Customer service is important for such an expensive product.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
