Is there a book that discusses "white hunters" involvement in WW1?

I am sure nothing specific has been written about that but a number of books will cover certain PH's and their careers including war service. "White Hunters" by Brian Herne might be a place to start and the Capstick series. Selous was involved in that time. The Golden Age of safari came somewhat later. Most of the PH's of WW1 era who did service likely did it in Africa like Finch-Hatton and Bror Blixen.

Definitely Capstick. I just finished Von Blixen and little is mentioned. But.... Capstick series on minertzhagen and death in a lonely land touch on it. Captstick's Warrior about Mienertzhagen most definitely has the more in depth look on WW1 and WW2. Hope this helps.

Safari, A Chronicle of Adventure, by Bartle Bull. It traces the history of the safari starting in India in the early 1800s and then coming to Africa. It has a chapter on the effects of WWI. It is a big book. I read it in the very early 1990s. Don't know if is still in print, but you can find it on line used.

Thanks, ordered them and finished White Hunter yesterday, what an amazing book!

the more in depth and longer the better!
I don't know of 'one' book.
Courtney Selous was killed 'by accident' as being mistaken for Major Pretorius at the Koenigsberg capture during the first world war. In his biography, Pretorius talks of the event. If you google those names you'll find a bit!

The Great War in Africa by Byron Farwell is an excellent book about WWI's Africa campaigns. Has some mention I think of famous hunters. Really good book.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
