I’m about 2 years financially from my next Africa hunt. I’m stuck between a Cape Buffalo hunt or a lioness hunt. Unfortunately I can’t do them both on the same trip unless I downgraded to a Buffalo cow, which I don’t intend to do. I’ve contacted a couple of outfitters including my previous PH in SA about Buffalo. I’m looking to spend no more than 10-12K on a hard boss bull. Finding a good outfit for a Buffalo hunt doesn’t seem that difficult from the amount of positive threads and recommendations posted here and elsewhere.
My other hunt I’m seriously looking at is a lioness hunt.
I’ve seen some as affordable as 4500.00 that were non importable. I understand that most cats are restricted for importation and importable cats are considerably more expensive. If anyone has a recommendation for a lioness hunt, please feel free to chime in.

Thanks in advance.

It’s unlikely you’ll find a lioness hunt you could import to US. There are lioness hunts in Namibia but often offered to previous clients quietly. There aren’t many. Zimbabwe isn’t issuing lioness permits for foreign hunters at moment. Nearly all lioness taken in south Africa are CBL. They add zero conservation value and will never be issued import permits to US.

Also, lion and lioness prices have gone up a lot in the last year in SA. You can do buff for 10-15k depending on the operator and details. You can also do buff in Zim for 15k.

Good Day Sir

Tsala Safaris would like to invite you to consider us for that next big hunt.

If you end up leaning toward buffalo, you’re welcome to take a look at what we do at Tsala Safaris. We hunt a excellent areas in Mozambique and South Africa and focus on proper hard-boss bulls — it’s a tracking hunt, not a shoot-off-the-truck type experience, and we keep our quotas small so you’re hunting quality animals.

Happy to share some details or just chat about expectations so you can compare options while you plan the next trip.

Good luck with the decision , buffalo has a way of changing future hunting plans permanently!

Best Regards

Rouan

Buffalo is more realistic, not only in terms of likely success, but you can export them to the US. Lions are not exportable to the US. If you want a trophy on your wall, it'll have to be a replica.

hi sir

we would love to help you with that buffalo bull hunt

we only do good hard boss bulls and our herds are sustainable, hence only doing a couple good bulls each year

we are in that price bracket you are looking at

send me a dm or email etc and will be happy to send some details

looking forward

Saw your post. Nice. Denver too. Genesee area (just off 70) if ever up this way. Alternatively, do you have a membership at GGC? Whatever, you'll have a wonderful time in Africa. Enjoy.
