One of my hobbies is to make 3D models of animals, living or extinct

Then I was looking at shot placement animals and noticed one vital flaw: They're limited in angles. 90% of the time, an animal won't be at that perfect angle just like in the diagrams. So I thought what if I could collab with someone who's knowledgable in shot placement and I can use that knowledge to create 3D models for hunters to study animal shot placement in different species at any angle they please. I can also add different poses like lowered heads, running, etc.

To prove my point, here's a bush elephant cow I made

Wow!

Way out of my league. I don't even know how to post a picture.

You say that it's a cow?.......ok..... where's the Weezer?

It ain't the hardest thing in the world to do. Doing it well is another story

I don't use a printer. Those things are way out of my financial reach

"The Perfect Shot" books were first created by Dr Kevin Robertson aka Doctari. He was both a vet and a PH. The books originated from when he did animal dissections as a teaching aid for trainee PHs. These days he is retired and living in the US with family. I'm sure he could be contacted and may be open to a collaboration. The new technology certainly advances the concept as a educational aid for hunters and professionals.

Fantastic idea!

Excellent idea!
Suggestion, besides seeing the heart, brain and lungs, it would be nice to have a measuring stick in feet near the elephant in particular so one could get a relation of its size in comparison to ones self. Elephant I think is the only one that the shot angle verses size is so critical.
Just a thought.

That's a great idea. Though, I'd like to make a few complete ones as proof of concept once school's out. I can easily see a Perfect Shot app being popular among hunters

Sounds like an interesting idea.
Potentially a fantastic opportunity for you to do a collaboration on a Perfect Shot Model.
A see through model showing the locations of the vitals would be interesting.
Such as when a cat is stretching at a bait, how would the location of the vitals appear different.
Quartering to and away giving line of sight to the vitals is important and interesting.
You could be onto a digital 3D model of the perfect shot that can be carried on an app and so on.

Have a look at the Complete Anatomy 3D app, this app gives you control over visible layers. For the purposes of what we are discussing here it wouldn’t need to be anywhere near as comprehensive as it is a proper medical tool but been able to rotate the subject and show/hide outer layers would be handy.

I have that app. Was a major boon for my dental forensics class.

I like your idea

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
