Anyone want to give me their top 5 list? I just finished Death in the Long Grass and need another hunting book.

Anything by Selous, Roosevelt, Robin Hurt, Bell, Peter Flack. Start there and go from there.

Two by Peter Flack are excellent…Heart of an African Hunter…and Hunting Icons of Africa. Those cover a variety of species hunted by one of the most well traveled hunters of our time. His writings are the biggest reason I started chasing the Tiny Ten.

What topics interest you…dangerous game or plains game…modern hunting or older classics?

Have a look at the Jim Corbett series - hunting Maneaters in India:

Months of the Sun, by Ian Nyschens #1!!!!
Into the Thorns
Pondoro, by John Taylor
The Ivory Trail, by Bulpin
Tall Tales, by Buzz Charlton

and...."Should the Tent Be Burning Like That" by Bill Heavy

I think I am in for the full continuim...plains game and DG although after my first buffalo, it would be hard to go to Africa and not hunt them.

I am mot into BP rifles but other than that, old and new.

Heat, Thirst & ivory by Everett.

Buzz Charlton has a good book and there are multiple titles by any of those popular authors-all of capsticks are entertaining reading and Robertson has several (5?) books available as well.
The Perfect Shot books, not the pocket guide but the books should be in every library and Boddington has a stack of books from his experiences available. Ruarks are among my favorites and Hemingway has some dated but good books.
Walt Prothero has a couple great reads. Some of the above titles are hard to find and some are spendy-shop around and you will find lots of options-
If you just want fun hunting stories, non specific to Africa, Russell Annabelle has a half dozen that I love-mostly Alaska.

That's a good reminder on Hemingway. Most of the time I prefer printed books but I have a copy of Green Hills of Africa on audiobook. I'm going to listen to it again as it sort of transports me to a different time and place. Great book.
