I don't think it means what I think it means

Okay, I keep seeing this described and Dennis @The Artistry of Wildlife is a common user of this phrase.

What the heck is a "wall pedestal". That's like military intelligence, jumbo shrimp, etc., isn't it?

I know what a floor pedestal is. It's a dead animal nailed to a column that sits on the floor.

I know what a wall mount is, that's when you slap a deer on the wall above the saloon in the middle of Wisconsin.

I even know what a toile mount is where you put half the face of an animal on the wall with the hide forming some sort of rug design around it.

Can someone please help me understand what a "wall pedestal" is?

It includes a little "more" than a shoulder mount ... I particularly like it with a dramatic turn.

As examples the zebra and giraffe here are pedestal mounts, the sheep and kudu are wall pedestals which are cut out in the body like a pedestal but attached to the wall. Billc, my taxidermist calls that an offset wall mount, which is what I'm getting kudu #2 to show off the body a little more, hopefully with the first strip.

I always figured a wall pedestal was a hybrid mount of the upper body and front legs (not the half moon style) coming off the wall and the feet resting on some form of stand usually with grass, rocks etc on it, to look like its standing there. That is how I envision doing my hyena mount. But first of course I have to find one to mount! Still looking.

I never gave giraffe much thought because of ceiling height restrictions but seeing this mount I now realize you can pretty much loose most of the shoulder to have it fit...
