Hunting vehicle

My current 2015 TRD with a Super Pacific camper.

I towed the Suzuki behind a cab over camper and F350 SD. It looked crowded with an elk in the back!

My granddaughter confiscated my 2003 TRD so I had to get the 2015.Great little hunting vehicle!

I miss my old rigs, especially the 7.3. I swapped it to simpler wheels, a small lift, and put bed-length tool boxes over the sides. It had enough storage to keep most of my hunting and camping gear on hand, plus fluids and tools. A bachelor rig that would go anywhere I needed.

Just a non sexy 2004 Tahoe 4WD 350 gas with 275k miles.

2002 Polaris Ranger 6x6.

Keeps on running.

This is my hunting vehicle setup for public land. It's a kawasaki teryx and I tow my homemade camper behind it that's small enough to go down rough brushy trails. I'll stay in it for a week at a time without having to go back to the truck. I load them both on a bigger trailer to get to the area I'm hunting. The camper isn't pretty, but it's comfortable.

Saw this on eBay this morning

Sadly my beloved 1998 Jimmy finally went to the boneyard two years ago after yet another deer collision. 350K miles, leaking oil, and slippery transmission meant it wasn't worth fixing again. I replaced it with a 2004 Envoy that really was like new in spite of a lot of miles. Beautiful ride with air springs in back, sturdy dual OHC straight six, 4x4 when needed, good gas milage, plenty of room for the dogs and all my gear. Just $4K. I was in a pinch for wheels in Montana and bad weather setting in so I took a chance. Glad I did. Great vehicle. I have a "deer duster" hitch carrier that goes along for hunting trips but there's sufficient room inside and in car top carrier for everything and dogs when a deer or coolers need to be loaded on it. The air springs compensate for load shift so no one is flashing lights at me to dim mine. This rig doesn't look very macho but it sure works for me. It has a bit more clearance than the Jimmy but still easy enough for an old man and his old dogs to get into and egress.

Yes, the photo was taken today! April 2nd and no sign of winter giving up yet.

Did you build the camper on a boat trailer? I borrow one about as long but 6 ft. wide inside. Nice to get out of the drizzle/sleet.

I was gifted my 2000 F250SD 7.3 4X4 new in 2000.
Still have it, mechanically good, but the AZ sun and heat have destroyed both the exterior and leather interior. That plus the desert pinstriping.

I built it on one of those cheap harbor freight trailers with the 4'x8' deck.

Hi Dr. Ray, I will be in Cooktown from Oct 16 to Oct 23 fishing Lizard Island Black Marlin Tournament.

I have several "slack" days after fishing before I head for stay in Sydney and Fiji.

Do you have any recommendations for 1 or 2 day hunt near Cooktown?

I've hunted both DG and PG in 4 different countries in Africa.
Thank you,
Bob

Good morning. I see that you had a Sauer 202 for sale for $3,000. Did you sell it at that price?
I have one for sale as well. I listed it (on here ) at $3,000 as well. Is the price high, low or right where it should be?

Thanks. Alex. [redacted] in case you want to call me to discuss further. I appreciate your time help and support.
