Very sad. To be fair, there was no machinery there to make ammo. I believe it was all contracted out in recent years - as a lot of places seem to do.

@mark-hunter we can have any caliber single shot rifles here if we have a need for it. It’s just pistols, semis (except .22LR) and full auto we can’t have.

I have few friends from UK.
I know it depends from place to place, and in Northern Ireland they still can own pistols for sport, from what I was told.
Hunting rifle permit will depend most probably on specific place and animal to hunt. But maybe somewhere is more lax.
