I'm from southern Manitoba Canada. I haven't hunted any big game just small game (gophers, raccoons, crows, blackbirds etc) but I am highly interested in big game hunting books and stories of hunting from 1930's to the 70's. And I also enjoy drawing old hunting photo's in my spare time ( which is when I'm finished work and when my girlfriend is working )
I have a small collection of hunting books I have recently purchased over the past few years, from African Hunter by James Mellon ( the best book ever written, I read it in 3 days.) to the J.A. Hunter collection, and some McElroy books, and many more I cannot remember at the moment.
These past couple of days I have spent some time drawing some of the hunting photos of Marc Pechenart, before that I drew some old tiger hunting photos from Allwyn Cooper Ltd, and before that many photo's of some of the big game animals no longer hunted, from Mellon's book.
There a certain few images I am still looking for to draw ( I am constantly thinking about new drawing projects ) I am having a hard time finding any hunting photographs of:(with the hunter in the field ) jentink's duiker, pygmy hippopotamus, abbott's duiker, melanistic leopards, tamraw, anoa, jaguars, tapir, spectacled bear. I have found some images from the safari club international website ( which is an awesome website ) but they don't have all the images with the records, and I was just wondering if anyone has some of these images from books ( or record books ) because I just can't seem to find them any where. If anyone has images of hunters with these trophies if you could guide me to them that would be much appreciated. And if I have some time I will try to post some of my art and y'all can be the judges and tell me if they are any good.

Thanks

Well the SCI record books, have pictures of animals and hunters with there animals, from around the world, in a number of volumes, you can get older copies pretty cheap. I always thought they were a great resources to a curious animal lover. There is a ton of information in each volume.

Welcome to AH Peter! You can also always check out AH photo gallery... Please feel free post some of your work.

I have recently purchased an SCI record book of African animals 1990 edition I think. It is just as amazing as the safariclub.org website, lot's of pictures and lot's of records. I hope to purchase more of the collection soon.

I am currently in the process of drawing some of the world records from the boone and crockett record books, i have completed 13 of the records that have not been broken since they were taken, and i think i have about 7 more to go, unless someone breaks one of these records by the time i'm finished, it won't take me that long. So...when I am completed them all i hope i can find some time to post some of them

Looking forward to seeing them Peter.

All the best!
Ibie
