Found this site while looking up info on a PH accidentally shot. Decided to join.
Went on my first safari last June. Going back in 2015.

Hey Tom, welcome to the forum! You went to 4 countries on your first safari?? Must have been some trip, you should tell us about it. I live to your north in WA about an hour north of Seattle. Enjoy the forum.

Yup, I want to hear the story for sure.
Welcome to AH.

Glad to have you as a member.:welcome:

Start writing and welcome :-) :-)

gday tom welcome and enjoy the site .
where did go on your African adventure ,and are going bwck with the same outfit ?

I was high bidder at a friends of the NRA auction. Hunt for 2 for 7 days in the Limpopo region of the RSA.
We figured that since we were going to be half way 'round the world, might as well make it two weeks. That turned into 3.
I had recently retired and my new job didn't care how long I was gone. My friend is a vacation day hoarder.
We looked at vacation rentals, motels, etc. We met our PH at the sportsman's show in Portland and discussed our wants, desires.
We ended up on a road trip of a lifetime. Even going into Zambia unofficial lay by boat.
Went for common plains game this trip. Passed up on a 60" Kudu on the last day because I was trying to pace myself. Haha, very hard to do when you are seeing 10-20 different animals every day.
The second week in a tent in the bush was even more exciting than the cape buff charge with a jammed gun, (on video).
Trying to go to sleep with a pride of lions skulking about, waking to look at hyena tracks at the tent door, getting to within 5 yards of some big bull elephants, 2 days on the Zambezi river doing some awesome fishing for tiger fish. (Those taste great, by the way).
Became great friends with our 3 PH's. Having him over for dinners when they do the sportsmans show in a few months.
Funny, really, my friend and I are the only 2 people I know who have only been there once.
Trophies are supposed to be here in May.

sounds like the trip of a lifetime tomm
.the camping in the bush would of almost made up for passing on 60 inch kudu .was the camping guided of on your own mate
funny how good a friends you make in africa ,that last a life time .
entering Zambia is right up there on my to do list ,year after next . and l wont be leaving until a catch myself a swag of tiger fish .
what trophies did hunt mate ?

Welcome to AH Tom! Enjoy the site we would love to hear about your safari and see the pics of the animals taken.

Camping was totally "where should we go next?" We were with our PH, but he left the 'where' up to us.
Hunted impala, wart hog, zebra, blesbuck, bush buck, caracal, jackal, blue wildebeest. Two days of Francolin, and Guinea fowl.
Wanted baboon and crock, just didn't see any that were worth taking.
Tent camping was incredible. If you have the chance, do it.

Welcome to AH Tom great to hear of such awesome trips, even better to hear you'll be back... Seems you'll have a great time on this forum as well. :)
Once again Welcome.

My best always

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig
