Recently retired military member here. 25 years of other people's priorities....
Loved (almost) every minute of it but its time to start living my list.
I've hunted in the States since a young man but look to soon add the birthplace of all hunting to my book. I was told that this place was a good source of experience, hard won wisdom- and a good nature (all very important to me).

Looking forward to the mopane smoke....

Thank you for your service and welcome to AH. Great place to catch the Africa bug. No known cure.

Welcome! And thank you for your service

Welcome to AH!

Welcome mwindaji to AH! Any ideas on what you plan to hunt and where you want to hunt?

I usually go with 2-3 trophies I would like. Then when Africa shows me some fine additional ones, I’m ready.
All the antelopes are handsome. Everyone wants a fine kudu, but don’t take it unless it’s at least 50” and 55” is better.
I love zebra! Tough as nails. Their only weakness is they have a built in target. Still, I’d highly suggest getting one with few scars (old barren females are usually very nice) to get a rug. Everyone should have a zebra rug in their trophy room IMO! Unfortunately my wife took mine for her office after she saw it:cry:. Guess I’ll just have to get another one.
A well tusked old warthog is so ugly they are handsome! An animal that doesn’t know how to not move!
Some of the tiny 10 make great full body exhibits and may be a difficult, or very easy hunt just depending on how mother Africa feels that day.
Wildebeest both blue and black can be quite handsome. Blues hides also make very nice wall hangings or rugs when the lighting will show off the beautiful iridescent blue colors! Blacks are so clownish they look great! Both rarely stand still for more than a couple of seconds even when drinking.
Of course DG can be quite exciting! But then so can everything in Africa!
Just don’t get to greedy your first trip, because...you will be planning your second trip on the flight home. You’ll be trying to decide what to take next!
JMO...JME! Best of luck planning your new adventure!

......

That's a hell of an accurate description for AH.

Welcome.

Had an excellent classifieds transaction with JoninCO. A truly honest and standup member. I wouldn't hesitate at all to deal with him again. Thanks, J!

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
