Good afternoon all.
Trying to get a solid understanding on the taboo subject of gratuities, tipping at the end of a dangerous game hunt. Hope you all could help with suggestions and experiences. This hunt is in the Selous, 10 days, 2 Buffalo if all goes well!
Best regards

I finished a two buffalo hunt in massailand earlier this year. My PH wasn’t eager to discuss it but he suggested $150/day total for guys on truck and $150/day total for camp staff. He told me to take it out of his tip if needed. Tanzania is a different cost structure than rest of Africa and the tip was higher than previous suggestions I’ve seen in other countries.

Here is a good thread on the subject...

That thread has sadly lost most of its value. It’s approaching 20 years old and very few comments (if any) apply to a Tanzania category hunt.

If the hunt goes well and you get two buffalo 150 a day for the PH should do it

I agree that the pricing is outdated....

Regardless, there remains some very comprehensive information irrelevant of hunt location and / or age of the thread. Take it for the education that was intended....

I also just retuned from Tanzania. The tip structure is different there. I had a 10 day hunt and tip to the staff was $2000 USD as what the PH recommended. You will also need to tip the government game scout. The PH took his tip out of the camp staffs tip pool. I also tipped the PH $200 a day, a $100 more per day that I would normally tip.

hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
