Mike and I went out on Nighthawk to do a little Halibut fishing today.

Just outside the GG Bridge.

Beautiful weather today!

This is the best time of year. The wind dies down and with luck the Salmon and Halibut are still biting. We also have Coastal Rock Cod and Ling Cod.

We got a late start due to a live bait tank pump issue. Fixed it and 1 hour later we’re out fishing. We called it an early day, fueled up, cleaned the boat, and got everything ready for tomorrow.

We’ll try the Farallon Islands tomorrow for Ling Cod and Rock Cod…

Did you spend all your time on the North Bar?

If you’re running all the way to the Farralons tomorrow, I’d check the SST’s and look for Tuna out there. They’ve been making a lot of unusual catches out there the last few weeks, (YFT, Bigeye, Dorado) but I’m guessing you know that.

I have Tuna gear ready to go. Just not looking tomorrow. There is a good bite at Fort Brag. We have a guest dock available to use there. I just have to get a few things together before we make the long tow…

Made it out to the Farallon Islands today.
Flat calm out there all day.

Islands are 37 Miles from our marina.

When was the last time we’ve enjoyed as good of a season on Lings as 2022 has been? It’s been a pretty epic season, lots of fish and great size too.

I guess I’ve been lucky because I’ve always been able to find Ling cod and good size rock cod. I have done more halibut and salmon fishing than cod this year, but the few times we went cod fishing we’ve noticed the size of the Ling’s are big!

Looks like a lot of fun! Congrats!!

Thanks Bruce. You need to make the trip sometime soon and take a load of fish back with you!
Agreed! For those who’ve never fished San Francisco Bay or outside the Golden Gate Bridge, you’d be pleasantly surprised at the variety and consistently good fishing we enjoy.

I was in SF once. Absolutely horrible experience. I guess I should have booked a fishing trip while I was there. Looks incredible.
