My crate from last years hunt should be here in a few days and I'm pretty sure that my blue wildebeests horns will be off of the mount.

I was wondering what type of adhesive to use to attach them so that they stay. I've done some reading and the type of adhesive has ranged from super glue to construction adhesive, with everything in between.

So what should I use?

Use Body filler aka bondo to glue on all horns. Use sand paper to rough all surfaces where the bondo will touch prior to application and they won’t go anywhere.

Make sure to test fit before you glue them on because once they are on they won’t come off.

Thanks

whats the purpose for permanently affixing them? I just place mine on top of the animal once I get it mounted to the wall.. they dont shift or move after they are placed on the animal..

If I have to take the mount down, or relocate the mount, etc.. it makes it MUCH easier with the ability to remove the horns, then take the mount down, move it to where it needs to go, then put the horns back on...

I agree, ive only got a few african critters but I just stuck the horns on and they stay just fine. Maybe wildebeast are different.

I have a kudu, gemsbok, and a impala euro mounts besides the wildebeests that will need their horns attached I believe. If I ever need to move them once attached it will be no problem to do so. And I just as soon as having them attached rather than just sitting on the skull plate.

I am with the just stick them on contingent. They won't fall off. I have never seen blue wildebeest horns removed.

Blue wildebeest horns will not be off and are permanently attached to the core like a Cape Buffalo. For permanent attachment use bondo on any other antelope species. Side note… I always spray permethrin in the horns to ensure that any bugs are dispatched prior to attaching.

I'll find out by tomorrow at this time, the crate will be here

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!
