Free Booze and Food! January 11th, 2025

I was glad you won that photo. Also very cool to see the new hunting guy win the big prize and his first trip to Africa. That was awesome.

Man, I need to figure out a way to convince my wife to let me be gone for my b-day. :ROFLMAO:

As usual, @mdwest put on a great event with @Bos en Dal SAFARIS and swag/gear contributed by @Mark Biggerstaff, @Mtn_Infantry and many others. The food was great! The company was even better and there were a lot of great conversations. It's one of those events that could be an all day get together and still not feel like you got to talk to everyone. The interesting thing is how many locals come but we should do a better job of getting together besides that. I would like to do more of that sometime....and less work than hosting...just small groups getting together at a restaurant in DFW.
Congratulations Dave for what sounds like another great dinner and get together!!!!

Tell her you need to win a ten day hunt for your birthday…

And we’ll tell her we’re throwing the party for you :)

Was super cool IMO that a brand new hunter (shot his first TX pig earlier this year and has been on fire for hunting ever since) won the grand prize and will be spending ten days in South Africa soon!
Just fantastic that the new hunter won this. It's going to open up a whole new perspective for him.
MDWest, it is very kind of you and your wife to host this get-together.

For everyone that missed the gala at Casa de MDWest, let me tell you that it had something for everyone! The Interpretive Dance contest might have been the highlight of the evening, closely followed by the “Act As Your Favorite Plains Game Animal” Twister competition. The Greater Dallas hospital system may have been overloaded with new cases caused directly and indirectly by the revelry.
In all seriousness, thanks to the West Family and the Bos en Dal Family for throwing such a great party. We are already looking forward to next January!

We are already looking forward to next January!

You’re not invited!

Fuck you Ezekiel!

(Sorry… inside joke… :) )…

Its that time of year again!

For those that will be attending TTHA in Dallas in January, the mdwest house will be hosting another @Bos en Dal SAFARIS party at our home the night of January 11th (Saturday).

This will be the third year we've done this (the past two years we did the event during DSC). Both times have been really good events with lots of door prizes (everything from small trinkets up to a buff cow hunt last year), lots of good food, enough liquor and beer to float a battleship, and plenty of good people to hang out and chat with (last year we just just over 60 people in attendance)..

Threads from the prior years parties are below...

I dont anticipate as large of a crowd this year as last.. but however many want to come, we can/will accommodate..

TTHA's Saturday hours are from 9AM until 7PM.. We'll open the doors of the mdwest house at 8PM (give myself and @Bos en Dal SAFARIS and a few others that are working booths a chance to get home before most of the crowd arrives).. party ends at midnight (you dont have to go home.. but you cant stay here... :) )...

We're out in the suburbs on the north end of town in Allen, TX.. its roughly a 30-35 minute drive from Kay Bailey (assuming no wrecks on the interstate, etc).. its a pretty straight shot/easy drive.. just hop on 75 out of downtown and take it all the way to Allen.. we're about a mile off the interstate..

More to follow on door prizes, the menu (I know 8PM is a bit late for dinner... but bring your appetite.. theres always tons of good food available), etc as we get closer to the event..

As with previous years, I dont want to put a home address out for all the world to see.. so if interested in attending, just shoot me a PM and I'll send over an address..

Thanks! We look forward to seeing everyone again and kicking off 2025 the right way!

Awesome! Looking forward to seeing you guys again!

@BigSky2212 photography is incredible… love seeing her stuff!

We’ve got a few other things already donated to the door prize pool as well… I’m sitting in a deer blind as I type this… when I get home on Sunday night I’ll get some pics and post them up for everyone to see…

I think we’ll have a big time this year… cant wait to see everyone!

Will Gerritt and Yolanda be there this year?

They will be! They’ll be in the US for 3 weeks… they’ll be at TTHA then we’re going to spend a few days doing some late season E TX deer hunting… and then they’re going to be at the Houston Safari Club show…

Hope you guys are planning on coming to either TTHA or HSC.. will be great to catch up!

That’s a bruiser buck by the way! I haven’t seen anything close to that on our trail cams this year… Rhonda and I have picked up a few doe and she culled a nasty little spike last week… but that’s been it so far this season… my Ranger buddy they we hunt with (he was at the party last year with you guys) got a decent 8 point, but it was just barely a 120 class deer…

Dave got that buck at his sister's house. He walked straight at his treestand. He bought a lifetime resident hunting license when he lived in KS.
I need to get out side, just had a monster walk by my treestand twice, an hour apart. Our property is between 2 parts of Mark Twain National Forest., so we are on a travel corridor. He is looking right at my treestand.

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
