FN Mauser style action not feeding

I dropped it off with an old-time gunsmith this week that said he’d have it fixed for me in a few weeks, so we’ll see what happens, thanks everyone.

Good call on taking it to a good gunsmith. It looks like to me that someone replaced the claw extractor with one for a standard cartridge and not a magnum. It is a easy fix to get the contour correct and the right fit for a competent gunsmith. Should be sorted out in a short period of time.

That action looks very much like a Santa Barbara action of Spain.
If you look at the pix you can plainly see its NOT a Spanish Santa Barbara action.o_O;)

its not a SANTA BARBARA action.

Just following up here, picked the gun from from the Smith last week, took it out to the ranch yesterday, functioning great. Thanks to everyone for your input!

Good for you, 686!!
May I ask: do you know what is your gunsmith did to fix the problem?

Thank you!

I think he slightly adjusted the pitch of the extractor at its lowest point and maybe added a little relief to the fixed side of the bolt.

Thank you 686

Good! As I wrote in September 22th, the pitch of the extractor at its lowest point is what I saw as the main cause of the tight fit.

Good luck!

I have no idea the shipping cost from here to Costa Rica. I can do my research on shipping and get back with you later today.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
