Firearms I Have Owned

@CoElkHunter My wife didn't hunt till our first trip to Africa, the ladies in camp convinced her she should hunt a Impala and as they say the rest is history. Where we went last year the pool was heated. Swimming in the rivers isn't a safe option. I have a few family members that quilt, embroidery, knit, and weave and those machines a pricey, so you should have some room for a African safari and a couple guns. Just make sure you pick up some fabric to bring back with you as her trophy

I tackled the doubles, won't even try the bolt guns as my memory isn't that good but the single shots should be manageable.

Impressive! You actually have/had a .416 Rigby which Toby didn’t list/have (yet?). Ha! Ha!

Yeah, I was just being facetious about the pool and river. Although, if someone was hunting crocs, a decoy might work? Ha! Ha! Anyway, I told my wife if she ever got tired of sewing/quilting, maybe the guy (Toby) with the 214 guns at one time, might want to trade a few rifles for her long arm machine? He could then learn to sew and create his own signature line of African Safari clothing! He could have the machine Cerakoted to protect it from the humidity where he lives, and could mount a low power scope on it facing the needle for better resolution? The only question with mounting the scope would be fixed rings and mounts or QR style rings? It would be his choice of course! Ha! Ha! Ha!

I never ever sold a rifle,....what did I wrong?

;)

HWL

I haven’t sold many, given away more than I’ve ever sold. As they say, give a man a deer and feed him for a month or two, give him a rifle so he can hunt and his wife will hate you til the day you die. Or something like that.

I have a buddy that had a drug habit. His wife took the checkbook away and the only way he could get any money out of her was to convince her he was buying another gun. She thought having a gun hobby was better than a drug habit. So he would buy new guns, shoot them a little if at all, and them sell them to me at a big loss for cash so he could fund his drug habit..... She finally caught on and divorced him. He went to rehab and cleaned up....I sure miss those days :ROFLMAO:

Maybe a foolish question from an inexperienced simpleton but 10 .375 rifles? You obviously like the caliber so why so many different rifles?

375 is definitely one of my favorite rifles calibers. I still have two of the rifles mentioned. So I sold the rest to chase some other flavor of the day at the time. So far I've been able to talk myself into not buying another gun safe, so when it gets full, I have to purge a few to make room for newer and more interesting things.

Now I understand. I don't sell my guns but do trade up from time to time.

@TOBY458
Do you still have the Ruger Whelen and the savage 358 and what do you think of the calibers and rifles for them?
Bob

I have a BLR in 358 win which I love short accurate and light had a 9 lb trigger when I bought it but got it down to 3.5 and now it is a tack driver. Have a remington750 in 35 Whalen. Lots of internet reports about jamming but I have not had 1 jam yet over 200 rounds.

Fun thread!

I don’t have the memory to recall all the guns I’ve had, I’d have to go to my ledgers to attempt to figure it out like the OP.

What I can say is it’s very hard to undo bad decisions and very easy to move out of good decisions.

This month I just got rid of the last tactical type weapon I got in my 20’s, a Ruger mini-14 stainless. Got rid of the handgun collection 15 years ago or more.

Most of it was unremarkable stuff, but I did have 100 side by sides and at least 20 were London Bests. I miss those a great deal.

I owned the Nawab of Rampur’s Charles Lancaster 20 bore, sidelock, auto-opener, selective single trigger, ejector. Probably the nicest I’ve owned. Much more interesting than the Purdey, Westleys, Lang’s, Hellis, Hollis, Osborne’s, Mortimers, Grants, Atkins, and the rest combined.

it’s a fine madness, but raising kids, taking them on hunts, and being debt free are more important than owning 200 guns for me ag present. (I own less than 20 guns I imagine?)

Until this guy posts something on pay it forward free I would avoid him at all costs.

If it hasn't sold by next week I might be interested. Stock would have to be changed along with some other items. I'm already having a 416 Rigby built so money is a tad bit tight.

Hey pal! I'll take all the .375 bullets if they're available.
Thanks!
