Do I need to worry about insects?

The pepper ticks are a real issue being so hard to discover but these suckers are no trouble finding. The Bont tick. Each time I’ve taken a buffalo I’ve had one of these suckers run off the carcass and latch on to me. Like getting jabbed with a large gauge IV. This one didn’t bother to even clear the top of my sock and instead bored straight through my tightly woven wool sock. They carry the “tick bite fever”. Another one I had go for my belt line at the front while riding in the back of the truck with the carcass going in. There were several eyes bugged as I frantically undid my pants, lol.

I once read that for your trophy pictures not to sit close or touching the animal just because of the ticks.

In a previous post I mentioned those pepper ticks. According to my friends wife it looked like he had a belt on when he went to take a shower.

If you get a tick on you try spraying it with bit of peaceful sleep...usually don't like it and let go...then can crush it.....the problem with trying to pull them off is if you leave the head part in you .... it comes away quite easily from main body part and if you don't notice its still there it can get infected

The kudu in my avatar was loaded. The first thing I noticed walking up to it was like 5 ticks on it's ear. I don't know how big the pic can blow up to but you might be able to see them.

For those going with clothing treatment, you DO NOT need soak clothes in permethrin. If you do opt to go that route, a little bit of the concentrate goes a long way. I just gave mine a light spray and let dry when I was stateside and had no issues.

Hello! I saw your post from last year about a missing crate from your hunt in Moz. I am curious how that all turned out? We (my fiancé and I) also hunted in Moz in 2024 and the trophies are being shipped with Hunters Services Limitada. We have some concerns on whether we will get the trophies home or not. May I ask who you hunted with?
