Do exhibitors make money at the big shows?

The fur coats definitely get purchased at the show. My wife got this one in Nashville a couple of years ago.

Exhibitors don’t travel across the country or from the other side of the world unless they can generate enough profit to justify the expense. So yeah, the fur coat and jewelry dealers are doing a brisk business. I once sarcastically asked the Bell Helicopter rep how many they sold. He looked me in the eye and said “two for sure.” I’m always amazed at the purchasing power walking around the hall!

Doug3006: Morning. I'm here to rent the Huey.
Bell Rep: Sorry, we don't rent it any more. But it is for sale.
Doug3006: How much is it?
Bell Rep: Two million dollars.
Doug3006: My pilot and I would have to do a test flight.
Bell Rep: Of course. You just have to leave a deposit.
Doug3006:v How much is that?
Bell Rep: Two million dollars.
Doug3006: Would you take a company check?
Bell Rep: Yes.

Are prices at shows better than retail? Planning on DSC this year, which until now was to just to walk around with a friend, and see a few outfitters. I do need a new mountain scope, and am interested in a high-grade Blaser stock.

Have bought several custom or semi-custom rifles, optics, suppressors and fur coats at SCI over several years in addition to booking hunts. Most have offered a show “discount”. Have even purchased Swift bullets because they were there and available.

Sometimes, but I wouldn’t count on it. One of items I bought with discount code post show was Maven binoculars, but it’s not necessarily more of a discount than sales they would offer at different times of the year. I know of one vendor that refuses to give a discount even last hour of last day on any item.

IThey were strippers working a side gig, I had a blast talking to them. Needless to say, traffic stops were way better and I gave away a lot of brochures.

There is a Canadian group of outfitters here at Jagd and Hund from Alberta. Everyone of them has a stripper with fake knockers in their booth.

The Belarus hunting outfitter Krazny Bror has a couple of Belarus supermodels, but if you watch their videos they work there.

Ah, this is the story of my life.

In reading this thread I realize I am way too into international hunting, I have never noticed a single stripper, model or booth babe. But I can tell you exactly where most booths are based on what type of hunt I am looking to book.

My first Jagd and Hund there were booth babes not everywhere but almost everywhere.

I think the hunting community cleaned up their act.

The only ones employing booth babes at Jagd and Hund are these Alberta outfitters.

There are some really beautiful women that are part of the families or companies that work there.

Depending on the business, the exhibitors are either selling products there, showcasing their products for awareness and consideration, or offering special convention deals for those who want to take action then and there. I already have my hunts for the year scheduled, but it's the following year or two that makes talking to the exhibitors worthwhile, because that's where I select my hunts for the next year or two. I talked to a couple exhibitors who had no one at their tables and during the conversation, they both said most of their business comes from the States, followed by Canada, then some across Europe. They hit hit the major outdoor/hunting conventions across the States and between them, makes it worth their time.

You know the rule, photos are required, especially for this subject!
A video is worth several photos :)

Clothing, jewelry, art, some guns, and decor are there to make money and create future clientele - some taken and some shipped. All have done fairly well by us over the years. Mrs. Red Leg owns several lovely pieces of hunting guilt jewelry.
So does Mrs PCC600. I think mink coats , rubies diamonds and emeralds are sold in parallel with good firearms and hunts . Every time I get an expensive rifle she gets the same value in jewels , shoes etc . Buying a rifle is an extraordinarily expensive exercise for me .

My wife enjoys window shopping fine jewelry and furs as I do handling expensive Rigby rifles. At the under-attended DSC convention last year, we had ample time and received lots of attention to indulge my wife’s trying on very expensive jewelry.

At one booth I discussed business with the owner. He informed me that often very ordinary looking couples would end up buying 5-figures many times over for the wife. I guess it’s like the old farmer in overalls sitting outside a store. “Boy, that old man could buy your car and you with the money in his pockets!” :)

I kinda miss the booth bunny days...

It only makes sense to have items of interest to women at larger shows, if those gals aren't interested in Worldwide hunting, firearms, etc.

I'm one of the lucky guys that has a gal that takes ZERO interest in expensive jewelry, furs, or fancy dress shoes.

When we attend the big shows, she wants to look at women's hunting gear, specifically firearms designed for women, and women's hunting clothes. At the SCI she looked long and hard at the Weatherby Camilla, and the Blazer R8 Intuition and any other firearm that might fit her.

This year in Nashville she'll be looking for hunts in Croatia and Scotland. Muntjac, Chinese Water Deer and Cri Cri Ibex are at the top of her list. I guess I'm not really saving any money at all am I?

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig
