Desirable Powders For 300 Grain Swift A-frames, For .375 H&H Magnum?

Varget works for me- shoots small groups in 3 different 375s all with swift 300 A-Frames.

The 375 is and easy caliber to load I think my load was 67.5 grains of varget so right at 2500 fps- just go by the swift book.

Also have had good luck with IMR 4064 with Hornady RN bullets.

I use H414 with good results.

many powders will go bang.
some drive bullets faster with less pressure.
with 375 h&h and 300 gn bullets, varget comes under the former heading due to burning rate.
bruce.

Page from Swift manual. 76.0 H4350 worked best in my MRC at 2,582 fps. 5 in 1 1/4”.

Hello. If I may ask, are there any more pages of info in the Swift manual for the 375 H&H? I have 300 gr A frames pulled from a RUM for a wildcat. My son's 375 should be back from AHR soon and would like to set him up with those bullets. I can't find the manual available thus far. Thanks John

RL15

I was only getting fair accuracy with a 300 gr Barnes. Then I tried WW748. sub 1” groups. RL15 or H4895 with the 300 gr Swift.

PM sent. Check your “conversations”.

Got lucky this weekend, picked up a pound of RL-15 at a store between Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio.
(https://archery-stores.cmac.ws/bottom-dollar-gun-archery-professional-shop/1313/). Lots of shotgun and pistol powders, not a bad supply of rifle powders. A guy I work with got me a pound of RL-17 in western Kentucky. And one of my cousins was able to get 2 bricks of primers (Federal Large Rifle Magnum) that we'll split, $40 a brick. I'm not trying to gloat, especially since times for finding anything useful are really difficult, just relieved to actually get some needed stuff. Got it all by just talking to people.

Envy!

yes but at more pressure than necessary.
once you get 300 gn bullets up to and over 2550 in the h&h you are talking pressure potential.
h4350 (ar2209) makes this issue go away.

Agree with Bruce and I also use H4350/AR2209 with 300gr Woodleighs Softs and Solids. Most importantly both shoot to same point of impact. However in my Winchester cases and bullets seated to cannelure it's somewhat compressed loads. That's the only proviso but not really any issue of significance and as Bruce says excellent accuracy and velocities right on 2550fps.

in my 375 and other rifles i load to max length that will fit in the mag.
doing this 75 to 76 gns 2209(h4350) went to around 2550.
do not worry about compressing powder if you work up to the load.
i repeat, 4895, 4064,varget(2208) and re 15 are too fast for 300 gn bullets at factory speed in the 375 h&h.
just because guys use them does not mean they are good.
it just means that guys are running more pressure than they need.

Right now with the "powder" outage, I'd grab a pound or two of most any powder listed for the 375 HH. Those would include: IMR 4064, Varget, RX15, N160 or N150, any 4350, RX19, H 4831 or H4831SC, any 4895. I just looked in my log and a few powders worked pretty well with the 300 gr TSX and A-Frame bullets I spent time/effort on for serious hunting loads. The powers that seemed to work best with those bullets in both the Win M70 and the BRNO 602 were: Varget, H4350 and RX19. Also grab any LR Mag primers you find including CCI #34s.
Good morning. Kindly help me with your stats on using 300gr TSX with H4350. I am looking for a guideline on a new ZKK602 custom built j just received. I use 300TSX in another 375 h&h of mine but with local Somchem propellant which is now unobtainable. Hence my move to H4350 which is pretty much all I can get in South Africa now.
Thank you.

I'm working with H380, N-150, and IMR4831. Using 300 grain Norma Oryx and 300 grain Woodleigh weldcore PPSN.

Vihtavuori N540 in front of 215M primers, in both my .375's & Loaded to 2490/ 2500 FPS is an amazing combination.

I have only ever fired conventional cup and core or solid bullets in my Whitworth and the loading was done many years ago for my earlier trips.
I had the best luck with IMR4350 and IMR4831. Both gave top accuracy and 2550-2650 fps with 300 gr bullets.

Re15 and 260 Nosler part. Or IMR 4350 and 300 gr gave me what I needed.

I'm preparing for loading the referenced bullet for my new rifle. I have ordered the Swift manual but it's on backorder. Suggestions for powder for optimal loads with your own reloading efforts are greatly appreciated. I realize this is a poor time for reloading in general but found a new place to check into this weekend. So I can certainly use some pointers what to be on the watch for. Thanks in advance for your comments and advice.
Very helpful! Thanks! I have an abundance of H4831SC and H4831. Thanks to this post I found this powder is not good for my 375 so I just bought 2 pounds of IMR4350
