Deciding on Which Rifle to Use

Velocity is your enemy for blowing big holes in small game and not so much the caliber of the bullet. Using a faster 350gr bullet out of a 416 on small antelope is going the wrong direction. An option for smaller antelope is a monolithic solid or in any case a tougher bullet. One trip for both DG and PG I took only a 416 Rem mag. Worked on loads for both Barnes TSX and North Fork CPS bullets. Got them to shoot to same POI. Great combo for me. TSX and CPS for buffalo and CPS for everything else. Both loaded to about 2350 fps. On PG from waterbuck to impala the CPS bullets made 3/4” holes trough and through and no mess. The CPS bullet proved perfect for eland.

416 Rem Mag. North Fork CPS copper monolithic. Reloaded to 2350 muzzle vel. Impala @ 100 yds, Left side entrance hole pic below. Exit hole identical on right side, also just behind shoulder.

Had an excellent classifieds transaction with JoninCO. A truly honest and standup member. I wouldn't hesitate at all to deal with him again. Thanks, J!

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
