For anyone interested this is for sale at Kittery trading post in maine. Has a fancy walnut stock and is in 97% cond. They are asking $2650. Will need to contact them for pics

Considering they were asking around $4000 new that is not bad if in advertised condition.

Albert,

Thanks for the heads up. Being from the south, I hadn't heard of Kittery, so I Googled them and found their website.

The gun is listed here:

No photos but it did mention it comes with a Leupold 1.5 x 5 scope.

Probably a nice gun. I own the Leupold 1.5-5x24 scope myself. Probably the worst scope I ever owned. Total POS. Just keep that in mind if you buy the rifle you'll need a different optic for hunting as the light transmission is nearly unusable.

I like the Leupold 1.5x5 24 mm scope for the money. It's got nice eye relief. Since it comes with the scope.....that a big plus to me!!!!

It is in near perfect condition as they say. Beautiful rifle. Way, way out of my price range and the wrong side for me, yet still I almost made a really bad decision. Luckily a sig pistol in .357 sig pacified me!

I was actually surprised at how big this rifle is compared to my .375. Explains why the cz 550 is so sought after and how they get those extra rounds in there! I really wanted it, but would have been looking for a new home to store it, in short order!

Agreed Eric, By the way Santa, if your looking for any last minute gift ideas for me, this will do!

FYI - a couple of years ago I bought the CZ550 in 404 jeff from Cabelas. Similar wood, jeweled bolt. Brand new the MSRP at the time was around $3,200 and I picked it up for $2,350. So, that seems like a fair price but I would suggest negotiating on that and try to get it for around $2,200 or less with scope.

For $2200, I'd buy it, wrap it up.

I'm about an hour away and am there quite a bit, nice place. I wish I hadn't seen this since I don't have $2600 to spare...

We have a local gunshop here that is a CZ dealer. It's where I bought my CZ 550 in 375. They sell the new ones for around 1200$. They don't have any 404's right now but I've seen them before and I almost bought one. Keep your eye on it because they are constantly getting guns in all the time. They do have a few 550's in 416 Rigby for $1180 new in the box. As soon as they get more 505's in it's going to be aweful hard for me not to come home with one. Here's a link to the website. http://www.damronsonline.com/catalog.bolt-action-rifles?&manufacturer=314

The grain flow in that stock is just about perfect. That stock would command a fair price by itself. Not fancy, thankfully, but very practical. Haggle and get the price down a bit.
