Gents,

I have this beautiful custom stock I bought along with several others in an auction lot a few years ago. I’m having trouble identifying the action it fits. The hole spacing and inletting seem to be Mauser 98, but the bolt cut out is too far forward, and oddly shaped for a 98…. Is it maybe a 1917 Enfield Sporter?

What say you?

Thanks in advance,

Here’s a picture of a Griffin & Howe in what looks like an 03-A3 action. That looks similar with the side mount peep. I dunno…

I think @Zinz hit the nail on the head. It most likely had a bent bolt, reason for no cutout.

It’s just weird where the cutout is placed. It is too far forward for any M98 action I have.

Damn shame… it’s a nice stock

The cutout is for side mount iron sight. No slot in stock for bolt handle because it was bent bolt for irons and no scope.

You can fill in matching wood with acraglass and do what you want.

I notice the Mauser bolt release cut out... different than a Springfield. Agree and the bolt cutout due to the bolt being bent for iron sights.

Jerome, do you think my last post in rough camping must maybe shift as an article?

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl
