Currently, I have an assembly line of various rifles under construction. I'd like to find a dark black finish that is long lasting and doesn't look painted on, like dura coat, etc.

Nothing against bead blasting and hot tank blueing, or rust blue finishes, but it's like pulling teeth to find someone to do that type of work.

Have any of you had a Nitride or Melonite finish that you were happy with, or should I look at something else?

Black nitride

Too bad you're having trouble finding someone to blue your guns. I found a moose hunting guide in New Brunswick who does hot black oxide bluing in the off season. He did fantastic job restorating my sporterized Springfield 03A3 and then my 404J I built on 98 Mauser. Best part is he's very reasonable. Only about $150 each (Canadian = ~$120 US and including return shipping but excluding bluing the bolts which would be more). I prepped the metal for him which probably also cut the cost. Great guy to deal with but he can be busy during hunting season so can't be in a hurry for turnaround.
Here's the before and after Mauser.

And the Springfield.

Good Afternoon,
How firm are you on your Dakota 416? I am highly interested but looking at a few different guns currently.

Best,
BJ

What is the minimum you would take.

I have a Chapuis 450-400 double that looks brand new and shoots well, never been hunted from what I can tell. I am willing to part with it as I have a 375 H&H Sodia on it's way from Dorleac & Dorleac. I am looking for $9,250 for it and if you are interested, I am happy to send you some pictures. Regards,
Steve
