Clothing

Another piece of clothing I highly recommend is a safari vest, the vest eliminates the need for a small pack and protects your shirts from thorns.

3 Safaris in the Eastern Cape South Africa.
Khaki shorts from Walmart
Olive Drab long sleeve shirt from Walmart
Fleece Jacket Camo ( used once or twice cold nights) from Cabelas

Light Camo rain jacket from Walmart

I live in Vancouver all stuff bought locally

I did bring some Khaki long pants found them to hot .

I hope this helps

Think upland hunting - lots of thorns. I wear khaki colored or dark greens. Stuff I don't mind getting ripped; loose fitting & layers so as it gets warmer you can shed. It's not something to worry about... No need to spend alot of money on...
CHEERS!

For pants I wore US military rip stop cargo pants, both woodland camo and plain green. For shirts I just used some camo T's and long sleeve shirts that I use for bow hunting here in the US. So for my hunt I had 2 pairs of pants, 2 T's, and 2 long sleeve shirts. Since they did laundry every day I was covered.

The place that I almost ran out of clothes was the 8 day tour that we took.

I highly recommend permethrin treated clothing, the bugs wont even come near me! Ph was in a cloud of mosquitos and not a one on me. no ticks, etc. bug born diseases like malaria and tick bite fever, etc. are a risk but much less if bugs wont come near you. i treat my own you can internet search for recipes. stinks like hell before it dries then no scent at all of it on the clothes and lasts several washes. other than that i wear cheap zip offs pants in tan or green, a good hat and long sleeve shirt like for fishing in sun the spf stuff light weight with ventilated panels. that sun will eat you up. i am not a safari vest guy just reeks too much of tourist bwana for me.

Look on E- Bay for some used stuff,,dirt cheap and you won't look like a Noob

+1 for the eBay resource.
I wear Cabelas trail shorts bought from the Bargain Cave for little money on a holiday a few years ago, khaki cotton shirts bought from eBay, a bush jacket bought on eBay, cheap khaki jeans/cargo trousers bought on eBay, t-shirts bought, yep, on eBay.
You don't need to spend a fortune and there's no point.
Save your money for more hunting.

You can even find a nice Columbia Safari jacket once in a while just make sure its not a Euro

Lots of good advice above, don't over think this or overspend - don't need anything fancy or expensive - a couple of changes of something quiet, soft and breathable and you're good to go. Wouldn't even worry about camo, as it tends to be more expensive, and isn't really necessary. Half the guys that are sneaking around in camo are only following right behind their PH who is dressed in olive or khaki - go figure. Most South African/Namibian hunts you will seldom spend a whole day away from the truck, so you can carry or leave layers in your pack in the truck

Don't be afraid to wear shorts either! The thorns are not at all bad, seriously... (y)

Oh no ?

I strongly recommend the 7-pocket hiking pants and shorts from Cabelas. I bought them in olive green. Very comfortable, durable, and as the name suggests, lots of big, useful pockets.

Carhartt Tacoma pants, Cabelas Serengetti Safari shirts. Great quality, not expensive. I hunt in these same clothes here in the US. I wouldn't dream of wearing short on an African hunt personally.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
