Anywhere close to a huntable number yet?

There are plenty of them. The real question is why can't you import them into the USA?

Namibia has CITES quota on Cheetah.
Not in the USFWS's mind though.

Lucky us, we can import them.

They are a celebrity animal and census counts and/or CITES agreements are irrelevant. Those of us who spend any time in Namibia soon discovered that they are treated there about like coyotes in the States.

I was just really curious as to why I have never seen them offered. Thinking they would make a really near mount. After posting, and reading the comments this far, did a quick internet search and didn't really find that many hunts (compared to other African species). Even if they aren't legal to import to the US, are there many hunted from folks in other countries? Again, I would have thought that there would be more hunting offers out there.

I think a fair number get hunted by the European folks.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.

Hi EGS

I read your thread with interest. Would you mind sending me that PDF? May I put it on my website?
