Hunting reports

I started off my international hunting chasing the various Capra species around the world.. in fact the passion for that was one of the driving factors around us emigrating half the world away to New Zealand where I could happily chase Tahr and chammy to my hearts content. Unfortunately a rather serious accident which I was lucky to survive, meant that my days of walking up hills were numbered… after nearly two years of intense rehab etc I changed my passion to big game hunting. Luckily the Northern Territory isn’t too far away and I’ve had some superb hunts there and this year will see me venturing across to Africa.
I’d had the good folks Charles Lancaster Gunmakers build me a stunning 375 which over the last two years has taken some wonderful Banteng and Water Buff.
Having complete trust in them and their build process I elected to have them make me a .470.. I was absolutely thrilled to receive the below photos of her as she’s come back from stocking. I know there’s a long way to go and a bit of work still to do on her. However, I am very very pleased with how she’s looking thus far.

that looks about as good as a double could. and that bolt rifle is spot on

That stock is really going to pop when it's finished!

That is going to be one good looking rifle! Please share the finished product when she is done.

Does anyone else have a new build Lancaster? I have to admit I didn’t know they were still in business. That rifle looks fantastic.
How do the compare to the new rigby Shikari or Heym?

they had the late Ronald Wharton building guns for them ,they also sold off many David Lloyd rifles after he passed. , their website isn't that great but it does show a few rifles that were sold ,, clguns.com

Two beautiful rifles . The new owners of Charles Lancaster are making some great rifles. Do they make the boxlock or buy it in from another party ? I also particularly like the H&H scope mounts on the 375 . The buff and banteng are very good examples . A couple of mates and I were offered the Charles Lancaster brand about 13 years ago . Ron Wharton had owned the brand and it was being sold off after his death . We were getting quite a few rifles built in the UK at the time - concluded we’d rather shoot rifles rather than make them . Charles Lancaster is in good hands now .

Lovely rifle.

Be careful of hunting Chewore South, the area has been decimated.....

Curious about this. I hunted Chewore South with D&Y in September and they did tell me it was there last hunt there.

Which outfits shot it out?
