That actually looks like an African civet, a tabby cat or skinny long legged raccoon. Shame it’s so blurry.Maybe
Definitely not the same animal as the first photo, color phase or not.Maybe
I think he took it coming out of the woods on a turkey huntThat actually looks like an African civet, a tabby cat or skinny long legged raccoon. Shame it’s so blurry.
I’ve seen jagurundi in south Alabama, my father and I watched one for about 15 minutes down near the bay. The area biologist believed us as he thought he had seen one as well. Nothing ever came of it though.
I am close enough to Ga. Any cat here could be in ga. In less than 5-10 minutes with no problem. The pic of the other cat could just cross the rd and be in Ga.I also know 5 men who have seen cougars in Georgia. (I've heard one twice in the 80's).
3 were Department of Natural Resources employees...
How many normal panther bodies have you come across in the fl woods? Or bear for that matter? As @Safari Dave said, just about everyone has a “black” panther story in the south. Problem is no one has ever produced a carcass or skin of one. My belief is that since most are seen in extreme low light the dark tan fur actually looks black. Just as deer appear almost black when they step out at dusk. Just my 2 cents.
I know. My aunt said there was a wild cat that was bigger than a bobcat and had a tailHow many normal panther bodies have you come across in the fl woods? Or bear for that matter?
I have never seen a cat body or bones
1 bear but that was also where we hunted bear.
And only maybe 10 complete deer bodies
There are millions of deer a few thousand bear
And there officially what a few hundred cats?
+ if any one decide to shoot one there not going to say anything about killing a endangered spices especially a non normal color one.
I had a game warden tell me there no such thing as a black panther. I said the next time I see one then I will shoot it because if that the case it’s not a panther so it would be legal.
He side of you do and don’t have claw marks on your ass you will be under the jail.
So who knows
I don’t know. Some say in fl anyway that it could be a black wolf that has not completely died out.I agree @Flbt, I’ve come across a handful of deer carcasses in the woods and they don’t last long. My point was that someone would shoot one or one would be hit on the highway. I have seen a couple of road killed cougars in California but they have a high density population in some areas.
I fully believe that there are scattered cougars in the southeast just not black ones.
These are two Black Leopards or Black Panthers .I have seen melanistic jaguars, but not leopards or cougars.
Please post a picture of a black leopard or cougar.
I'd really like to see one.
I don’t believe there is or has been ever a “real” photo of a Black Mt Lion.Melanistic mountain lion maybe? View attachment 716041
