Cape buffalo vs the rest?

Save your money and do Buff and PG. Be open to opportunity and prepared to take what is presented… This method has served me well over many safaris.

I’ll be going on a 2nd Buff hunt this October along with Ele and PG in 3 countries. I planned for these types once I retired.

I’ll take what mature PG trophies are available, with small cats and the remainder of tiny ten the priority.

Tuskless cow elephant hunt is at the same price point and in my opinion is even more of a challenge of a hunt.

So this point, I loved my tuskless elephant hunt and would do it again and again. It was cheaper than my buffalo hunt, heck it was cheaper than my elk hunt in Wyoming, lol.

I dont like Buffalo hunting and hunted them in the same area as my elephant, and in other areas of Africa. I just dont particularly care for it.

I enjoy plains game hunting, especially when considering a few target species.

With all of that being said, if you needed to have one experience you are far better off hunting buffalo in Zim once rather than going on another plains game hunt.

Good luck and look forward to the report.

You mention all these places youve hunted and how great the adventure, and then.......no outfitter names, help us out.
I havent hunted Buff, .yet..., but I thought I wanted a sable until I saw them 75 yds off the road staring back, lost my appetite for them not enough challenge.
I don't see too many references to PHs, African Hunters, and/or Safari Guides (not outfitters) in any of the responses above, so how is mine any different, yet still providing pertinent information? I'm pointing in the right direction (did he not say 3-5 years out? It might be Trumpwannaland by then, but more likely ROC!) I can't give older PH names with that timeframe...Some of 'em don't even buy green bananas these days! ;) Specific info. with serious, pointed inquires not wasting time, are PM material. IF you condense what was written above, you could do a search for the who's who of Namibian PHs in specific regions (or Zim)...the list is NOT exhaustive. RSA, maybe exhaustive. Only spoon-feed paying (or prospective paying) Clients! :p Also read the hunting reports on here! Some have real pudding!!

I have an interest in a tuskless ele hunt. What country and outfitter did you like?

OK I get it ,I was just seeing if you had a great recommendation, thats all.

Really, all hype excluded.... It's a wild, untamable member of the bovine family that has an excellent memory and a penchant for revenge when you only wound him! And, in my hunt last year, I DID kill him. But his best friend, called an Askari, who was immediately behind my Bull when I fired waited for me in the long grass near his fallen buddy. He wanted to get revenge for me killing HIS best friend! If adrenaline is your favorite word, and adventure in your blood, you MUST hunt Cape Buffalo! If your only concern is pulling the trigger as many times as you can on a hunt in Africa and coming home with the most trophies....do another plains game hunt. A plains game hunt in numbers of animals for the money is the best bang for the buck...pun intended. It is a VERY personal choice, We who have hunted Cape Buffalo rarely rue the choice!
Based on my experience, you called it right. The first buffalo I shot wanted revenge and almost got it. The next time I hunted buffalo he was one.of four old bulls. He ran about 25 yards and piled up dead. The other three bulls wouldn't.leave and made it clear that if we pushed it, they would give us more trouble than we wanted. We had to.back out, hike back to the truck and drive back. The other three were still there and still didn't want to leave, but with much horn blowing and another round fired into the base of a tree they finally moved off.

I love hunting buffalo and nothing else in my experience matches it.

If you’re willing to be flexible and last minute, you can jump on a late season deal or cancellation hunt for a wild area

You might have edited your post on the PH in the Bubye. I know the PH and is a wonderful person and a fmaily man and runs a succesful business in Zim and just doesn't want the attention that the internet offers, the ugly kind.

Hello,

Am I reading your post correctly to say that the Tsavo rifle will be coming out with a composite stock later this year? I ask because I had been looking very hard for a Tsavo, but if there is going to be a composite stock model I will wait for that.

Thank you for your time,

Andrew

Saw your post. Nice. Denver too. Genesee area (just off 70) if ever up this way. Alternatively, do you have a membership at GGC? Whatever, you'll have a wonderful time in Africa. Enjoy.
