A big thank you to BillC for teaming up with me on this project. His workmanship on the base and shield is amazing. Top of Texas Taxidermy will be offering these to compliment you African Mounts. Below is a bushbuck mounted on a mahogany shield and hand made authentic African Spears.

Thanks bro, your euro hog is about done. I'll bring it to you when I come down next month.

I owe you money.... I'll get it to you!

The euro mount is a gift bro. I'm not worried about the other stuff bro. We'll get to it when we get to it ;)

You're awesome mofo!

Thumbs up bro!

You made a nice piece of work there and I was glad to be part of it. Thanks for the compliment on the work I did making the shield and looking forward to doing a few more with you.

Also for anyone wanting to know that is a mahogany shield with a fir base stained walnut. Hope to work with gizmo on a few other styles and woods as he needs.

Gizmo Man great looking end product. Bill your shield looks great. I'm happy to know a couple of guys on here that can make stuff from somebody's vision.

Looks great guys. I understand first hand the amount of time that goes into both the shield and the mount. Job well done.
This darn site isn't helping at getting a bushbuck off my mind

There's only one good solution to that..... go to KZN. Shoot you a monster Bushbuck, Nyala & bushpig.... problem solved.

Jody Africa is calling. Hope school is going well for you this year!

Cmon Jody, go shoot a big bushbuck...

@gizmo and @billc Great work and great to see a couple of my friends teaming up. I love the work and might be needing one or some new idea down the road here.

Bob I think we could help you out with something. Gizmo has some great ideas and I am glad he reached out to me to team up with him on this.

Bill;
It will be interesting to see what other stuff you guys come up with. The more authentic the better in my mind.

@gizmo Did you use a standard shoulder mount form for that bushbuck or did you modify the angle to adjust for mounting it on that slight slope of the shield vs. a vertical wall?

I'm wondering how that shield might work to put a bunch of small critters done as shoulder mounts on it?

Ok, I gotta tell on myself here....

@gizmo sent a pic of the shield to me before he posted it here. I was really busy and didn't have tome to do anything but glance. But I did have a thought... I thought, "damn... kinda look like Erk ripped off @billc 's shield idea...." :ROFLMAO:

Great job guys!

I talked to Erik yesterday and told him my only feedback to him was making sure the shield size matched to the animal. I know this first one was a prototype.

Hey Royal don't you have a plaque with a bunch of little guys on it? How would something like that look, but on this shield?

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
